Best language to use?

Post by NexusInteractive »

Hello! I've been looking at Irrlicht as an engine to use in my game, but I don't know which language would be best.

I have alot of experience in VB.NET, yet the current Irr.NET version doesn't have the features I want.

I don't know much C++, but I know that the C++ version has the most features.

So which should I use? Should I go with what I already know and lose features, or learn something new and get the full effect of the engine? (Sounds obvious, but I want to know what you think)

Thanks!
Computer Specs:
AMD Duron 1.8 GHZ + 256 MB RAM + ATI Radeon 7000 Series + 20gig HDD + PCChips K7 MotherBoard

Ummm...
I really can't imagine a question that embodies "personal preference" more than this one.

However, I will expound on some of the pros and cons:
You have a lot of experience with .NET...
GREAT
Irr.Net version doesn't have the features you want...
Well, lets put two and two together:
Why not pick up on the Irr.NET and help to expand it?
missing features? then make them not only for yourself, but to further the Irrlicht engine :D
This could be a big "pro" to the community.

On the other hand, if you have experience with programming, you shouldn't find it too difficult to get into the swing of Irrlicht's approach to groove on the C++.

If this is being voted on, I vote for the former.
