irrlicht abandonned ?

Post by Guest »

Well , i use some 3D engines, i like a lot irrlicht, so simple,
powerfull , incredibly little files for executables etc ...
irrlicth is used in Rabcat engine , that's fantastic,
but does it means , it's developper will let irrlicht down
and work on Rabcat engine ?

Prehaps he could delagate some people to integrate new things and make
irrlicht evolve ?

what is the situation, caus i can't go 100% with irrlicht , if it is going
to be abandonned !

thanks in advance for some little reply :)

Besides, ther are several spin-offs already, even if he doesn't have the time to keep it going so strong, I think between the spin-offs and the popularity and the strong community will keep it going.

Thanks, but I quit my job at RABCAT several month ago, after working there for more than one year. :)

Niko doesnt even work for RABCAT anymore (which he used to), why would he abandon Irrlicht?

RABCAT engine is just a larger engine that uses Irrlicht for graphics. Irrlicht 0.6 version to be exact.

Wow, this is also discussed here. Look here (http://www.irrlicht3d.org/pivot/entry.php?id=151) I've wrote down an answer there.

I think you can go with Irrlicht 100% even if it don't have any more development even been a "beta" version Irrlicht works very well and have many features to do graphics for a very decent game.
If Irrlicht walks a side of any versions of D3D and OGL wich see the light... that is completly other thing.

irrlicht is opensource and under zlib licence so you can edit the source of irrlicht to your needs if its not developed anymore.

Sheesh, do people just click past the front page of the website??
How about looking at the developement roadmap?
One look at those and people would know that Irrlicht is far from being abandoned. (Plus, Niko says he hasn't abandoned it)
If it exists in the real world, it can be created in 3d

Sys specs:
AMD 3700+ 64 processor
1.0 gb ram
e-Geforce 6600 graphics 256 mb onboard ram
