How do I get a 3d studio file to load with textures without having to manually allocate them in my code. I have a model that uses several different textures and is exported as just one file, but it loads in the engine as all white.
What am i missing?

I have noticed something with the various exporters and converters around..
If I use lightwave and export as 3ds, I get a plain mesh with no textures, that is if the images are in the same folder as the mesh, if I use 3dExplorer to convert my LWO to 3ds, the loader doesn't like that version of the mesh, and spits out cannot read mesh or something..
Maybe there is a different version of the 3ds file format out there, I unfortunately spent all my money on lightwave, so I can't go out a buy Max just to test the theory...Then again maybe I'm doing something different or wrong..
