Hi its Me again I have been Working alot on the project and have basically got it supporting sound using FMOD

Got alot of the panels inputted

imported 140 fonts

also 4 sky cubes have been implemented
the next snapshots (should be up soon) will show more of the gui and the
Skybox chooser, these will be the final steps before we are underway properly

if you have any contributions IE Sky boxes, Models, Midi these would be appreciated

if you have any ideas as to what i should implement i will take it into consideration and add them at a certain date.

the below are a list of features that will be implimented and what is underway:-

Map Builder

- Sky Cube Lab (well a visual choice of Sky Cubes)
- Font for ingame use (140 so far)
- Music player (Like RPG Maker)
- Grid 1024X1024 Per Block
- Choice at begining for what style of RPG they want eg (full 3d or 2D
Environment based like FF VII - IX)
- Pixel Shader
- Many more Visual Features

Still To Come
Model Editor, Database Editor, Event Editor, Effects editor, Atmosphere lab, Music Database editor, Script Editor and EXE Builder

Have Your Say
Please post Any Ideas / features you think i should include (nothing stupid) i am wanting to hear your ideas

I'm happy to see that this project is going somewhere... but I have a few questions.

How are you planning to "Build the EXE"... will you make a compiler or are you planning just to have a few EXEs and just build an INI file to run off of?
Is this only going to run on windows or will you have Linux support?
Is this only going to support MIDI music or will it support other formats?
Will this be open source or closed source?

I also have a few ideas... Like removing some of the first screen shots. They are not dialup friendly. I would also like to see a GUI Editor. It wouldn't be cool if every game built with this had the same menu and in game GUI.

Keep up the good work... and I’m looking forward to playing around with this.

Thank you for your questions I will try my best to answer them

How are you planning to "Build the EXE"...

The Initial plan for the compiler is to be like RPG Maker where the program compiles each map and its events to individual files and one precompiled EXE which will run all the maps and attatch them together.

Is this only going to run on windows or will you have Linux support?

I am still undecided about What OS it will run on but at the moment it is only windows Systems.

Is this only going to support MIDI music or will it support other formats?

This Program already supports all major types of music these include

MP3, OGG and WAV also MID, S3M(Mad Tracker Files or Chiptune), MOD and SND

more formats will be implemented
I would also like to see a GUI Editor. It wouldn't be cool if every game built with this had the same menu and in game GUI.
Yes there will be a GUI Editor implemented eventually at present it is only the 8 major programs that i am concentrating on

Model Editor, Database Editor, Event Editor, Effects editor, Atmosphere lab, Music Database editor, Script Editor

The Above snap shot is that of the editor and not the ingame interface

I hope this has answered your questions and i will look forward to reading your other posts

Cheers

I would like to offer my help but due to a few problems I have with school work ethic I am forced to have limited computer access. (I am currently posting this on a friend’s computer). If and when I learn how to do homework I will try to be more involved with a few Irrlicht projects (including this one). I truly hope you get the support you need to keep this project moving.

P.S. I don't want to rush your decision on what type of licenses this software will have, but when you deiced I would like to know if it will be freeware, commercial or open source.

Hi

The project will of course be freeware - open source - :P

This is going to be a helper for people who want to develop irrlicht projects and will be updated as frequently as i can this is until it gets too
expensive then i will create a pro version which sadly will be at a cost but i am going to keep this software free for as long as i possibly can
as it is at present.

i hope this helps you

Cheers

P.s a usable demo will be available soon just watch this space

Hi All Who Look here

Sorry for the long time it took to update on my progress.

I have started implementing a layer system which is in the below format

Layer 1 - Floor tiles - Generated at startup as arrays these can be textured replaced - but not removed (.X) - can be textured

Layer 2 - Plants and foliage - These snap to the floor tiles / 8 meaning you can place 32 trees per tile - (.DMF or .x Pre Textured appears random shapes, textures and sizes )

Layer 3 - Structures - Snap to floor tiles and colide with trees etc - (.DMF Pre Textured)

Layer 4 - Character layer - Does not snap to floor tiles will be able to detect collisions from the off - and will adjust its position accordingly (bounding Box) - (.MD2 Pretextured multi skinned at users choice)

Most of the above is just theoretical it is to be done - what is ready though is we have been able to create the arrays for the floor and for test purposes we have snapped a building to the middle ties just to preview what it may look like when the program is complete.

Here are some extra things that i have done

Added:
Camera clip distance buttons - Clip Further, Nearer, Reset Clip
6 More Sky Boxes - Fantasy Sky, Alien Sky, Desert Sunset, Desert Day(improved Quality), Night, Middle Earth Red Sun Rise
Distance Fog - Matches horizon colour of Sky Globe

Removed:
Zoom buttons - To make room for the Clip buttons
old Static Cameras - because of Problems with node display

Since the last time i posted there have been significant changes this includes the first plane of Scene nodes and be able to change them in real time something that people on the forum did not think I could do but i did get it working fine http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=11522 - I must admit i was rather unclear with what i was trying to say.

i have changed the camera type that i am using in the software as i was having several problems with the static cameras - so i just changed the mode and everything worked with the advantage of being able to click to move the camera. so this has resulted in the removal of the zoom buttons

I added clipping distance to help people with lower end computers and with this i added fog which i have made change when the skybox changes

I am now currently in the progress of being able to select objects, textures etc and place them on the map.

There will be a usable demo within the next month so watch this space

Any questions please ask at this thread

More Screenshots will be added tonight

Cheers

I just wanted to say good luck on the project, it looks like you've made some progress and it looks cool so far.

I have a question though, is it possible to load heightmaps into the level? I ask this because if you could create an actual terrain it would look a lot better than if it was made up of tiles. would it be possible to make layer 1 a terrain and then the objects you placed on other layers would be placed on the surface of the terrain depending on the height. This might all be wishful thinking but it's worth asking.

On the contrary my friend this is a feature that i am going to place in the software. the last post was what i am working on in the short term.

i will be adding in the long term

1 - at new map the user will be able to select what type of map it will be world map or flat tiled (interiors towns etc)

2 - Multi texturing for landscapes

3 - More advanced effects Pixel shaders etc

4 - Script editor

I hope this puts your minds at rest

I will soon be adding screenshots of what has been developed since my last screens.

Cheers

Here are the images that i mentioned in the earlier post they should give you an idea as to where i am in the development of the software, they are not very dial up friendly 1024X768 screenshots

I would like to here your comments on these and what you think i should do to my software and what you think of it so far

I will be uploading a usable version of the software very soon

cheers
