Hi all (and esp. Niko)
this is a question to Niko AND the community ...
I am a little bit afraid that Niko will not be able to continue in the way he did before. I think he did a very good job and offered a very good OS project to the OS community.
Is the any idea how Irrlicht will continue?
Please exuse me, if I asked a question that has been already discussed and show me the link to.
regards,
Alex

Irrlicht is now managed and developed by a team, so if one person leaves for some reason, there'll still be a few people left.

that is good news! seems you know more than me about the internals.
is there somewhere in the forum a thread I can learn more about the new team?
thank you

@Alex: That is not true. Niko is still in charge of the project and will keep on developing it. The fact that he's got real life stuff to do (studies, work, girlfriend) doesn't mean he has quit or will stop developing it. Neither does the CVS version mean that he's dropping off. it's simply a "sneak peek " of what's to come. Users can view the CVS branch and even download it but it's not considered as an "official" release.
So Irrlicht's not dead, and it's still under Niko's charge.

open source's nature is that of community - if an owner drops a project, another owner will pick it up and continue it if it's a useful project, and if not, nobody will much mind it dying anyway. look at reality factory, its changed hands more times than a 300 year old family heirloom. irrlicht is definitly useful, so someone will always want to take the reigns should Niko somehow no longer be able to work on it. therefore, i would say that irrlicht is safe either way.
besides, i find it rather silly to speculate on a projects death if there are no signs it will die - a bit like not wanting to be in your office because your afraid a fire will start. c'mon, thats aweful unproductive thinking.

And with that said, I will close this topic. Thank you Niko, again.
