.MY3D problem

Post by floyd6 »

recently I switched from Mingw to VS6.0 and came upon a minor problem. when I try to load a my3d file I get things like: "could not load texture: dmytexture.jpg". though I have all the necessary textures. I've noticed that it searches for the wrong files because it somehow added "d" in front of the file names, i.e: instead of "mytexture.jpg" is searches for "dmytexture.jpg"

I did not have this problem with Mingw

what is wrong??

Weird, I've always used My3d with MSVC compilers (6,7 and 8 ) and never had such a problem. Could you upload your test app somewhere to check it?

Did you try renaming your jpegs by adding the "d"?

Yes, I've tried renaming them. It helped, but I'd rather avoid doing that.

Ok, here's the source. Check it out.

Thanks for uploading the code. I checked it but there's notthing about My3d in it but Quake 3 bsp. And you're loading the zip reader but you're not loading the bsp anywhere.

This code compiles ok but I get errors since the engine is not loading anything in the end besides the particle textures.

Would you check if it's the code you wanted us to check?

ps. If you upload your "My3d" project please remember to include its assets as well.

i just built it upon one of the irrlicht examples but I haven't yet removed unnecessary lines from it, so please ignore them.
as for the media files:
(i didn't include all jpgs since that would make the zip huge; so there's only one texture but that'll do. I resized it and compressed a bit more to speed up download)

Well I built an app to load your My3d file and it works ok although I can't see anything since I don' have the textures to your level but I got a basic My3d loading app that you can get and check here:

check what you make to use a zip - i used winrar for a while and couldn't load my3d from it (errors were given) when I used a straight winxp zip folder it worked a treat.

Also check you are exporting it ok
