indeed, I think I read gtk radiant alllows both bsp types...and also that which you say of using a free compiler.
Those map editors are really powerful...
there are several , very good...quake army knife, gtk radiant, and several others...
I can import the bsps them all into Ultimate Unwrap...one day I may test this...
