bug in techdemo for new version

Post by Wolf Dreamer »

The techdemo.exe in \irrlicht-0.5\bin\VisualStudio\ runs fine in direct3d 8.1 mode, but in opengl 1.2 it has problems right after getting to the part where you see the woman running by and are suppose to move about. It just locks up.

The older one worked fine with this setting. I was just running the new one through all the various settings to see the differance in speed, if any.

I had shadows clicked on. I tried it both with the 4th option on, and off, and it makes no differance. Actually, with it on, the stonework seemed to be oddly overlit... looked differant.

Is everyone having this problem on their system?

I have a pentium 3 1900mgz with a nvidia graphics card, fully updated.

on my older computer:
Device: OGL
Shadows: off
Old HW support: on

I dont have that problem.

However, in the Q3BSP Tutorial which I compile myself in DevCPP: the textures for the BSP dont load, but it still actually has material showing instead of just white. its light-mapped too. (This is a marked improvement over 0.4.2)

no techdemo problems in opengl with shadows off

Post by Wolf Dreamer »

Just ran it again with shadows turned off, and opengl worked fine.

So there should just be a note somewhere probably telling people the shadow feature is for direct3d only, not opengl.

But Niko said he added Shadow support for OGL in this feature-- so if it doesnt work, its a bug.
