blender .x export
blender .x export
What's everyone doing for blender .x export? The file included with irrlicht gives a system error. Blender 2.42, and the x export in blender gives a jumbled up model. I guess I could download an old version of blender, it says on the export it works up to 2.36, which is getting outdated.

The exporter found here might work: http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... light=mesh
Although I'm not sure about the instructions given :/

It is difficult but not impossible, read well here :
http://www.ben.3rdimension.co.uk/documentation.html
and grab file here:

I have not tested with latest 2.42 rc3, but in fact it worked for me greately even with very complex constraints witth Blender 2.41.
Just carefully read the doc. The good man has even made tips for irrlicht! Lol, don't you write him so much...
I hope you have mview.exe to re save there....Any volunteer(server) for providing a permanent download of mview ?

well...the fact is I experienced files exported carefully did loaded ok directly in irrlicht.
Is just not an easy task, lol
x is as multi platform as you can imagine...the mview is to make it more compliant for irrlicht to the format, but indeed, the format works in any linux.I had several modelers exporting and importing in Linux, way long ago, when I used Linux.
md2 has too many graphical disadvantages, from an artist point of view.
Anyway, it should be possible for you to do an x export from blender , using the linux build, without the need of mview. I know I could do . Often stuff like identation, punctuation, or themany things to avoid, make it "non compliant".So, probably avoiding all, you need no more mview. I have read people here loading x files directly without needing mview.

Well, I exported a model, with no bones, and it's all jumbled up. You can't get much simpler, unless I exported a cube or something. I didn't even have a uv texture on it. I thought it might be triangulation, but I did that, and it looked exactly the same. Perfect example of Microsoft compatibility. As long as you use their software, it works fine. If you don't, it's trash.
