Quake 3 tools

Post by andoba »

Hi, some time ago I did some things in Irrlicht and for the maps I used 3ds Max in my3d format, but my 3ds Max try-out license has expired, so I tried woth a Q3/Q3A map editor. I downloaded GtkRadiant, but the problem is I need to have on my computer installed Q3 or Q3A, so my ask is if there is some way for using a Q3/Q3A map editor withouth having the game.

And I'm not going to get the game.

~Thanks, andoba.

IIRC you just have to put a file named quake.exe somewhere. But just search the forums, this has been answered very often.

get openarena (free q3 community project-GTKradiant compatible):
http://cheapy.deathmask.net/

follow this tutorial:
http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=12100

it's exactly about what you're looking for. Check the last page where it says how to use it with openarena.

Please remember to use the search function. Many people have asked this question before; that's why I decided to write a tut on it.
