Super Smash Bros Style 3D Fighter

Post by Aviticus »

Greetings Irrlicht Community:

A few friends of mind and I have been working on a project and we just thought that maybe we would get some input on it. I'm military so we deploy alot and sometime we have nothing better to do than sit around bull$hit. So one day I drew a picture of mario and everyone was like wow. You see it wasn't the average mario. He was mario as you and I would see him. Your average guy, Italian with jean overalls on and a dirty red t-shirt. I call it Mario - 4 Real. So the guys pushed me to the limit. They said hey draw the princess. So I did with the same artistic look. I wasn't long before we had 5 nintendo characters drawn. One of the guys said hey why don't you make that the new project for your game dev class @ westwood. I said what , " Real Life Mario "? He said, "No how many times have we played Super Smash Bros? We all kinda laugh and said coo what are you getting @. He started saying how cool it would be to have a game with characters from Marvel, Capcom, SnK, Nintendo, Sega, Ubisoft, Konami, Rockstar... the list goes on and on forever, but develop it based on the players choices. Have polls and forums and give the players a chance to decide who the wont to see. I even drew a moc of of Sonic " The Hedgehog " based on real hedgehog pictures and the actual sonic character. I want to know if anyone would be interested in working with me on the webpage, programming, development, character sketches, and 3D modelling. At the moment I am currently attending 3D Engine Development @ westwood online college so I will be able to do alot of that as well as character sketches. Let me know what you think and what characters you would like to see... Thanks Aviticus

Hello. I am interested in your project, but I am a little confused. How are you going to handle copyrights for the characters? I know that legal issues can cause a project to grind to a halt very fast, and it can also cost you some money. I don't really have much experience with designing, but I have helped out with a few projects before, mainly flight simulations. What branch of the military are you in? I respect your service to our country. I hope that someday I can use your military knowledge to make an awesome military sim!

Legal

I wont be making any profit from the project therefore nothing more is required legal. A friend of mines is an attourney and we have discussed the loopholes and such. He said the most someone can do you for using trademarks in a non profit project is to ask you to remove it. Thats like telling someone that they can't give someone a picture of mario. I'm am in the air force btw. Do you have any ideas or suggestions that you would like to post.

I would like to see you include some of the characters from the old NES Castlevania games. Metroid and Mega Man would also be good choices. Also, I think some hot anime would be pretty cool, too!
