Hi All

Here is the latest Information on RPG Builder

The RB3D Project has been developing quite rapidly lately here is a list of everything that is done

1 - My Beta Tester had made me aware that the software is running in full screen his advice was to use a window instead. So i did this for the next release

2 - The floor painter is now working correctly (though it still occasionally places the odd stray floor tile)

3 - You Cannot replace the textures on models with the standard floor textures ( This took me an age to figure out )

4 - You can place and now remove Models ( Figured this out at the same time as the last point )

5 - You can no longer paint models by holding the mouse down ( as this method placed too many models and they overlapped causing all sorts of frame rate problems )

6 - The Side panel now has items in it ( You can now choose a model by clicking on a list of models in the Model Tab)

7 - A mini picture of the selected model gets displayed beneath the list

8 - The Default Font on the GUI has been changed as the Beta tester pointed out that it looked too shadowy and made the interface look gloomy.

9 - I have now seperated the Content from the main executable making it a quarter of the size.

10 - The Web site will soon have a choice between a Zipped File and an install file

If you are fed up with waiting for the next version of RB3d to come available to test become a Beta tester and i will send an update on your request - if you wanna test it please PM me and i will send you a copy as soon as i read it

I will place some new screen shots tommorow so watch this space

any other advice that you have please do not hesitate to post here or PM me if it is a large request

current version on website - V0.0.1 (Still)

Please explane your projects purpose for me a bit more....this is just comparible to like Oblivions map editor right....not an actual game engine?
I am looking to make a game and engine with irrlicht comparible to KOTOR...decent graphics, NWN style weapon and armor systemscripted system, scripted event system, ect... Your editor would be a useful map builder for my project right? I am still reasearching how to go about building my project so any input would be amazing!!!

Hi.
Yes This free version of RB3d is not a games engine but more like a game builder. if you read the page on my website about this app it is more a map builder which is part of a suite of programs that make RPG Games. The games are comparitivly that of oblivion but it does not soley make 1st person RPG's but a plethora of different types of RPGs moreso that of FFX and FFX2 the parameters will be able to be adjusted later in the development of the app

If you want any more help as i can help you with your map editor if you wish it.

I can help you with you program if you are willing to help me. :D

And if so i could possibly make an add-in that would enable people to make maps for your game in my editor.

Sounds like a GREAT Project!!! In your opinion would a game like KOTOR be possible with this suite? Most importantly would be graphics, scripting, and inventory system. I am very good at media creation...I am a film major at a university in California so I know max and maya and film editing studios. I have an amazing ability to make stories and want to use this ability in a game.

I loved how KOTOR was able to entice the players and make them fall in love with the charicters and story. That is my goal in a game. I have been involved in game dev for a long while in the Quake engine world and have basic programming skill. I was able to add Q4 graphics to the Q3 engine as well as a Single player story. I understand how games work but lack to programming abilities to make my media and story come to life.

If you are seeking a person to make maps, models, textures, ui, ect for your project or maybe a Tech Demo and would be willing to trade skills...media for programming, I would love to help. I can also obviously test your releases!!! AND give input!

It would be cool to work together with YOUR engine...like maybe I can mold a version of it for my needs...and you would be able to help better if it was your code that you were altering...let me know!

Hi again
You wont have a limit to what graphics the games that you build will have. as the models in the packs can be designed in whatever program you choose whether this being 3DSMAX, C4D, MS3D, MAYA, LIGHTWAVE or Del-ED it will all depend on the power of your machine.

I am also going to be adding features such as HLSL and other pixel shaders.

I am very much in need of a rigger as I will be shortly adding characters to my model pack, and other organic models.

What Would You like To know about programing?

Do You have an online Portfolio to show me some of your work? just as a point of interest.

I will happily trade skills and it would be great to have someone else onboard to test, Critisize the software and advise on what should be improved, added or fixed. i take all feedback to mind and consider it.

Do You have MSN Messenger?
Please PM me the contact details if you do.

cheers DGENXP
