Anybody has any neat suggestions for Linux game developing tools??
Compilers, ide's, modelers, level editors etc??
Linux tools??
-equinox3d (shareware, spline modeller, very advanced. No animation)
-kind of Milkshape for free in linux only: innovation3d, I don't know if it is functtional. I installed, but probably had bad installed mesa driver or my gfx driver in linux, as 3d displayed badly. innovation3d.sourceforge.net
It has spline modelling, polygon modelling, some very nice stuff even hard to find in comercial windows packages.Yet to know if it can be functional.
-Blender. The best bet for all in one 3d package, for linux people (and also windows people, that haven't comercial package purchased)
Improving at light speed, is hard to learn, but very powerful.
Way very advanced, and maybe the strongest bet for the indredibly good comunity of coders and artist behind, which also is huge and in many countries. I have learned the basics already.
blender.org
read the doc step by step.that's the key.
www.gimp.org
-Gimp, all you need to not miss too much adobe ps in Linux. Some stuff better done even.
www.wings3d.com
-Wings3d. Ports for Mac os and linux. Imho the best free modeller out there. Only modelling. Has an automatic uv mapping system inside. Handy if u don't get at all yet with blender uv system.
-There are lots of renderer s out there in linux...Povray, yafray, aqsis, 3delight... (linux port in all them?),
-Moonlight or something like that...
-k3d (modeller )and k4d
-ayam (nurbs modeller, very good)
etc.those only from what I remember in a second...
dig at sourceforge, etc...
level editor? Blender...you can already export as x file, but only static, no animation yet...
