no audiere only does 2d sound i think, take a look at openal or fmod(fmod = not commercial use) for 3d sound.

openAl currently comes with ALUT utility which supports only wav files but if u want more formats its complex to translate like oggvorbis for OGG format, etc

One can combine the power of both Audiere and OpenAL to get maximum.
Its up to u how u handle the things. I u want there are many tutorials on internet on using openAL , some are in Devmasters site. I suggest
