the new version runs much better.
framerate is now always at 59, but i think you turned vsync on or me so i cannot get higher framerates (but 59 is way enough anyway).
just something i noticed: when you enter the elevator, you can see how the end of the level is clipped. also, the elevator is going down too fast, because its down before the player and thus the player "falls" all the way down and not actually be transported by the elevator.
bye!

I don't know how to do that, so unless it's a compiler default, I had nothing to do with it.i think you turned vsync
I'm glad it's working bettter for you.
As for the elevator problem, It's the "flyStraightAnimator" doing that. I am probably going to make a great big spiral stariway, or slide to put in it's place for now.
Thanks for the feedback (and help in the beginners forum). It's much appreciated.

Hi MikeR,
I got 50-55 FPS. My PC specs is almost like yours. I made some test - with loading of your models in my editor and got over 250 fps. Yes, in this case some things like collision don't charges CPU, but I suppose that in your project debug Irrlicht.dll is used. You can recompile engine using of release compiler options to get more fps. But this can be only one reason.

That's interesting. I'm using the win-gcc dll that came with irrlicht.
I tried to recompile it once before, but got a bunch of errors that I didn't understand, and didn't understand the instructions on how to fix it.
I'll attempt again tho.

Since I know Irrlicht default projetcts are in debug mode. When I compile Irrlicht in release mode ever get over 50 fps in adition.
I'm cowardly, when begin to talk of fps. I like cloth simulation, physics, and more... Your project looks very nice and I wonder, where downs these damned FPS. Your level by me must hold over 200 FPS on similar hardware. Your level is not voluminous and you must turn out some things like collision to find where FPS falls down.
In the main I like very match your project. Keep your good work and if some of us can help yoy , please tell us of some problems about it.

Thanks. I'll recompile and see what I can do. My fps seems to keep about the same all the way thru, and I do know I should be getting a lot better fps. I'll keep at it.
Edit to add: I downloaded code::blocks and recompiled the dll. I now get 75fps. Thanks for the advice.
I think my bad programming and collision detection is what is causing the low fps now tho.
