I also don't think one should judge Irrlicht for its forums but for its graphical capabilities;
Actually, That's the way it should be, but it's not reality.
Peoples first "vision" of Irrlicht, is it's forum and the screenshots. Sorry, fact of life.

Af, you are doing an outstanding job here. My hats off to you. I don't think I could remain as calm as you have been. :)
If it exists in the real world, it can be created in 3d

Sys specs:
AMD 3700+ 64 processor
1.0 gb ram
e-Geforce 6600 graphics 256 mb onboard ram

Which is exactly why it's good we have someone making sure the forums stay civil as possible.

Not to mention the need for more screenshots :)

Thanx for the support and the vow of trust; you know I'm a man of peace guys!! The only thing that makes me a bit sad is valuable ppl who are already experienced (veterans) with the engine droppping off when things are starting to get interesting and when they could return a lot more to the community. Funny thing. Throw the towel just because.

I guess I'll have a long chat with Niko, or even ring him to discuss many things going on the forums lately.

and yup... we need more cool screenshots! like in the old days! :D
I just noticed that ever since Nico and Saigumi named me a Mod I haven't shown any new artwork (last thing was the Deled NYC building level). Everytime I come to the forums there's the same troll-newbie-faq-spammer problem leaving me no chance nor time nor wishes to create stuff. Irrlicht is a deep passion in me but believe me, you guys are not the only ones who feel bad with "what's going on".

Just hang tight and don't let the Irrlicht flame inside you die! :D

Maybe along with the code challenge, we could start a new screenshot of the week challenge, have everybody post their screens in a thread, make a poll and put it to a vote to find out who's the winner.

Not a bad idea that. It would also help find some of those projects out there using Irrlicht but not saying much in the forums.

You can't hide from it IntMain! :P Irrlicht is a victim of it's own success.

The reason all these n00bs are here is pretty obvious to me:

Of all the decent 3d engines, Irrlicht is by FAR the easiest to use. Because of this, more n00bs flock to irrlicht than they do any other engine. They see the source for helloworld and think "I can do that!", not realizing you still need to know how to code! Also, there are over 32,000 posts in 'beginners'. You are bound to see some noise with that many posts.

Maybe those really n00by n00bs should be directed to an even easier to use engine like GameMaker ( http://www.cs.uu.nl/people/markov/gmaker/index.html ), or Nautilus ( http://www.adeptsoftware.com/nautilus/ )?

They both advertise "Make a game without writting a single line of code!".
