Quite right. But just because you posted your little attention grabber in the Offtopic forum doesn't make it any less "ho hum".

As Spintz said - you're a hypocrit and I have yet to read a post of yours that added value. Said posts may exist, but given your signal-to-noise ratio, they aren't obvious.

In other words, if you want people to even CARE that you are "back". Post more than a "Look at me" thread.

Btw, phpbb2 is really lacking an "ignore user" feature. Would reduce noise like this whole thread and preserve focus.

Since there is no such thing, how about a harder regiment? Less carebear more forum-nazi. Deletion of this thread and warning on offensive language. Warning ignored -> Ban. Problem solved.

I feel it myself, that it is hard to be nice, when the forum is littered with offense and unfriendlyness. I get a bit unfriendly myself, eventhough I don't want to be.

With a few ground rules set and enforced, I am sure, tone will get nicer.

Midnight: I'm "trying" to cause offence? *laugh* You're not worth the effort. I'm simply stating things in such a way that others know where I'm coming from. I know from experience you weren't going to get it.

Baal: Banning only works when there is no guest posting allowed. That's what makes moderating these forums impossible. Afecelis & Co. can only "ask nicely", they have no ability to enforce the rules on those willing to break them. The only people they can ban are the registered ones. And do you think someone with a grudge is going to bother registering again when they can simply post without going through the hassle?

I think as soon as guest account are removed I will register myself twice. One account for the usual posts and one for dumb attacks on every one. I don't bother with registering each day again. Thanks to my changing IP this won't be trackable.

Ok, I hope you get the point. Enforcing registration is only the first step. You will also have to enforce account activation via e-mail, banning of e-mail adresses and probably other things. A much better solution would be to just not freak out on every word found in these forums. It's not the real world in here. Would be nice to have all people acting a little more friendly. But, since this won't work for everyone, I take all these other posts just for fun.
