shader model 3.0 is already dead as the new shader model 4.0 is now unoffcially available through unoffcial drivers on really expensive cards.

oh yeah you dont need shader model 3.0 for much, everything can be faked iand is faked on irrlicht on current shading models. The only cool thing about SM3 is the vertex texture lookup, which is only good for simulations
(MRTs are good too but they too can be faked using irrlicht)
