That's a nice setup with a very nice video card - the demo uses it well, as you can see.
Usually, in a game you'd hope to cull some of those 400. And also I bet I could LOD them down from the 6000 tris each when there's that many on screen...hmmm, idea for version 2 of the demo.
Yep, considering culling, LOD, and the lower rasterization time of polies that are further from the camera, you could certainly have a few hundred at a time, and still ensure decent performance on mid-range PCs. In fact, I think more highly of Irrlicht just after seeing that demo. Nice work.
