Yeah, this community is pretty good at flamin you, but I have never flamed you before until now. I usually don't get into with people, but YOU have crossed the line with. You get into a post and YOU f*** it up. If you want to disagree with me, I don't give a damn, but at least do it with respect and not lose your dignity. I have yet to see a game you have made. I actually would like to see one. I have a couple. And I don't know about you, but pretty much everybody I know and have seen responded on any forums say about the same as I did, to start small and grow. You can still disagree, but don't lie and flame me when I have never flamed you, or if you can quote me where I have ACTUALLY done so, show me. By the way, don't include this one, because yeah, there is always a first. Man, you suck.Midnight wrote:kburkhart84 wrote:If you have that programming experience, I recommend you start really basic, not with a 3d engine, even one as simple as Irrlicht.that is your advice? are you fucken serious?kburkhart84 wrote: For example, you need to understand how the code in a game loop actually works, for example, render, gather input, process input, render........ There is a lot to learn, and starting as big as working with a 3d engine will leave you burned out and with nothing to show.
you need to know 3d so start with 2d and console?
how the ***** does that make any sense?
don't listen to these twits they can't do any better then you look how many posts this pud has he knows nothing except how to flame me and thats only the beginning.

This marks the third time actually.
It's not my fault that you base skill on presentation nor do I care.
It's also not my fault that when it comes to education you put on the blinders and ignore anyone that disagree's with you.
I disagree that I "f** threads up" and that nobody likes me in fact if you would stop crying you might be able to see thats not true.
This thread isn't about me or you and we are each entitled to our opinions.
I still retain my dignity I assure you. could you please explain how I have disrespected anyone?
.. what games?
I do this commercially you'll see my games when they are finished and being sold in the next few months.
I suppose you think air doesn't exist because you can't see that either.
BTW he took my advice. I must be doing something right.

Man. You call that flaming. You have a different definition of flaming than I do. Oh well. Also, as a game developer, I would like to see your "games" you are developing that will go for sale a a few months. Why haven't you told anyone about this until now?? If this is true(don't know why I doubt), then congratulations. You are doing what I want to do so hats off to you. Since you asked though, about how you disrespected anyone,
The rest of it isn't so bad, even if it partially isn't what I believe, I don't mind if you post it because it is your opinion.
There it is.
that is your advice? are you fucken serious?

I can respect your opinion though it isn't my own, you need to do the same. Feel free to quote and disagree, but not withjust make a game..what kind of game you want? read the forums learn more c++ any chance you get...buy a book or ten.
there is some solid advice...I started with irrlicht and I'll probably never code outside of a rendering engine again... why would I? I'm not building a firewall or antivirus app...hell they might look good with 3d graphics anyways.
just build each piece seperate...get a few effects and new gui elements going...read the hell out of the irrlicht source...good luck.
you're young and have time to learn directly you're not trying to win a contest. it took me two years to learn programming basics and work with irrlicht you already have a head start i knew nothing when i started and my first ever...hell you could even call it my hello world app was guice a gui editor for irrlicht.
READ SOURCE AND LEARN C++ this much he was right about.
that is your advice? are you fucken serious?.....how the ***** does that make any sense?

this may seem kinda wierd, but the impression i got when i read the first post of this thread was that it was an old man posing as a 14 y/o boy trying to see naked pictures of someone in a webcam chatroom...kinda creepy on my part

When ISPs compete, you win.
When electronics retailers compete, you win.

lol I forgot and didn't read the twits part... I was still angry about my thread at the time.
I stand corrected I am a bastard.
I'll remove that part lol sorry. you seem like you want to be friendly.
care to start over? your choice.
personally I've taken a vow to myself to try and be more polite.
about the game I'm making it's a hacker game simular to uplink maybe you have heard about it I loved the game personally and I think the genre needs more recognition. I have told a few about it.
I never announced it here because honestly I'm afraid my reputation here will cause me to starve IRL but oh well now you know. screw it.
The game is not actually built yet I just began construction on it recently as the gui editor was priority. it's a 2d gui based game so it should only take a few months to complete.
and truefully no I don't really call that serious flaming.. you wanted an example so I gave you one.
@rooly.. very creepy.. I've spoken with skater on msn and even saw a short video of him in it. now my gaydar isn't perfect but somehow it seemed more like a 14yr old swedish kid who loves zombies and skateboarding. call me crazy but I also like to give people the benifit of the doubt.

Yeah, that could be it. Pedophiles suck though.lostclimategames wrote:@rooly it prolly seems like it because he almost "defined" himself
im a 14 year old boy from sweden, yeah, it does sound pedophilish but i think its just because of his lack of english dialect
@midnight, no hard feelings, man, but be careful what you post. Not all forgive as easily as I do as you can see from other posters responses. Also, the hacker thing sounds pretty cool. I bet if you post friendly like and ask for other's opinions about your game when you get it started, you'll get responses back just as nice. They might not say it is all good, but it will be respect. Hell, I haven't sold a game yet, and I've got goods and bads in the few I've made, but I've never gotten disrespected, though I've been told my games suck before. This link should still have an older game I've made. It kind of sucked and I did it with openGL before trying Irrlicht. It is fun but probably would bore all within 10 mins. It has a couple of bugs but for the most part works fine. Try it if you want to.

can't link directly.. i found it manually.
not much of a game but at least it shows you know what your doing as far as programming. doesn't say much for your art skills but at least you can model some. overall more then you see from most people.
I guess the only reason you don't see much from me is that all my work is on going. between helping random forum members building gadgets like the sound board or working on the gui editor and finding bugs in irrlicht along side bitplane I don't have much time for mini games.
not only that but I'm out of work.. in a bad way considering I'm qualified for nearly anything trivial. so the idea was to invest all my efforts into teaching myself game design which I've done for the past 6 years increasingly every year.
not to mention if you look around the forums you'll see that 2006 was a very bad year for me I had wrecked my vehicle with ALL my posessions inside which I basicly rebought from the junk yard.
I'm also working with irrnet as all the other good networking engines like raknet for example are costly and I'm on a 0 dollar budget. I can't even afford to do my taxes right now and that would make me money.
I also spend a huge amount of time playing games. which really is my downfall. among spending a few hours a day responding to posts.
However in the middle of this post I actually got an extremely good job offer as a transport broker for my fathers company which if it works out I'll be making upwards of a few hundred a day hopefully.
Anything else you wanna know? lol

I figuared I'd show you some of what I have done.
irrnet example 4 (chat and 3d ninja demo combined aka examples 2-3)
http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=19415
Irrlicht + IrrKlang procedural sound board
http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=19561
Object orbital camera
http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=18074
The orbital cam was built for the space game I started with but I decided to wait until technology caught up with my ideas for that besides it would be far to large of a game to start with and like I said money is tight.
The sound board I did for a friend and the example 4 is proof of my obvious interest in IrrNet which I hope to include in the hacker project because it's going to be the worlds first multiplayer hacker game of it's type. I think there have been others maybe but they were completely text based where as my will be more like uplink and it will have very little referrence to command line. (shell hacking)
however it will be far more realistic then uplink yet still only "based" on real hacking. I also thought it might be a good idea to throw in some general network security information to give internet noobs a grasp on how hackers really work. nothing extensive just game filler really.
general concepts that sort of thing.

See, that's what I like to here. My art sucks, but I don't care if someone tells me. Also, I've always posted that link before and it has worked, but gamedev is finally redoing the nehe stuff and it looks like that was a change they made. Glad you found it though. And yeah, more than I see from most people. I think I'm going to make something similar, but with Irrlicht. I'm a little better at modeling that I was, my art is better, not much, but better, and Irrlicht is much better that OpenGL alone, so my next version will kick all ass
You contribute good stuff too, so keep it up. If I ever say something sucks of yours, don't take offense because it will be constructive criticism.

I didn't say it sucked it was more the lack of art I was referring to I haven't seen enough to judge you.kburkhart84 wrote:See, that's what I like to here. My art sucks, but I don't care if someone tells me.

Honestly I don't care if people even use my stuff not that I have contributed all that much anyways. I know enough to know whats good and whats not and I have been doing this long enough to know people are very bad at praising you properly.
And when I launch my company my work will be judged by the size of my bank account which I can handle just fine.
I'm not just here to use irrlicht in fact I actually work on it.
I'm here because in another life I am niko and I released irrlicht.
And the community survives because of all the great support the community breaths into it.
And I'll take the oppertunity to thank all of those great people.
Thank You for all your hard work peoples I couldn't do it without you.
@skater lmfao... he's only kidding around. (i think)
