DX
With soft shadows
A 11-21
B 7-22
C 7-25 (why are my highest AND lowest always here?)
My OGL is still buggy, except for the normal Irrlicht stuff.
The soft shadows are pretty XD

Haha cool, and you have a 6200 agp? How is the performance in normal games in that? I am thnking of getting one to upgrade my Radeon 9200
(Ok actually a 6600 or 6800...)

Honestly I had a 9200SE beforehand, and though this is definately better, its not a really big difference, with the exception I crash a lot less.. Games like Oblivion and Far Cry run on medium, games like FEAR I have to keep on low.

Wow I am amazed that oblivion runs
Tomshardware lists maybe 4-5 fps for your card (Maybe 2 fps in outdoor scenes.)
Hey I will upload a faster optimized version soon with more filtering methods.

He really must have had the settings pumped. I have no mods that lower the graphics at all and I can't stand less than 20 FPS when I'm playing a game. Medium I am satisfied... in fact I even turn up most of the draw distances and the texture levels from medium... but its still lower than high. On low I get quite a happy FPS.

Oh I just checked it they are on "Max Quality" at 1024x764. The slowest card there is a 7300GS and it does 4.8 Fps!
I was really scared when I first saw this chart maybe its not so bad on medium hahaha.

Card - NVidia 7800GTX (256MB)
With NO filtering:
A: 800x600 with 512x512 shadow map - 271
B: 1024x600 with 1024x512 shadow map - 208
C: 1024x1024 with 1024x1024 shadow map - 188 - 210
D: 800x600 with stencil buffer shadows (For comparison) - 95 - 140
With 8 X Filtering:
A: 800x600 with 512x512 shadow map - 125 - 185
B: 1024x600 with 1024x512 shadow map - 102 - 160
C: 1024x1024 with 1024x1024 shadow map - 72 - 140
D: 800x600 with stencil buffer shadows (For comparison) - 95 - 140
Strange, 8 X filtering with stencil buffer shadows doesnt decrease performance compared with no filtering.
Cheers

There is no filtering for stencil buffer shadows, they are only for comparison.

Great job done, i thought this is imposible with irrlicht.
Intel Celeron 2.4 Ghz (FSB 400)
512 RAM (266 mhz could run at 400 but due to processor inability not.)
NVidia 5700LE 256 mb (processor 250mhz , ram 400mhz)
Sorry i could taste this only with 800x600 res. DirexctX:
a) no filter
42 - 54 FPS
b) 4 samples
15 - 21 FPS
c) 8 samples
5 - 8 FPS
and Stencil Shadows 20 - 25. All with AntiVirus + Firewall active and not
restarted PC for about 15 days now.
I will try this all on my home PC and tell you results when i come back
next time if you are still excepting test results.
Do you plan to release source for the public maybie?
Belfegor.

Yes I have almost completed a wrapper that contains this and many other effects and I will release it soon.

I am sure, that this little wrapper will grow the Irrlicht's community. A lot of people stop using Irrlicht because of it's slow shadows.

I hope this can help irrlicht to gain more users. =)

NVidia 6200 - 128mb
RAM 1024mb
1. 800x600 with 512x512 res shadowmap
no filtering 58-67 FPS
4 samples 32-45 FPS
8 samples 21-36 FPS
2. 1024x600 with 1024x512 res shadowmap
no filtering 49-61 FPS
4 samples 25-34 FPS
8 samples 13-21 FPS

Wth? There were no updates since your last post, I am surprised if it is better at all!
EDIT: Oh just noticed you were using a different video card..
