Great, Blender's leading!!! Blender is quite a good 3d modeler, and I like the numerous import/export scripts available. It really enlarges the app's potential.

Blender is not *winning*. It is not a competition. It is a poll.

Just curious, but what over modelers are available which fit into the "other" category? :?:

oh,I'll name some...

but considering the word "modelers"...not renderers, animation tools, etc...

Anyway, am a convinced one about best is to use specialized tools for certain tasks...I yet to see a general package that shines absolutely in every aspect...My solution has allways been to control well two or 3 general ones, but trust on specialized tools for certains steps.

of course, there's lacks Wings3d, superior in modelling organics than all other tools , in my experience.
But also Silo. Mudbox. Metasequoia. Lightwave. Gmax. And many many more would fit in "other".Imho, Metasequoia in the free land is a very powerful modeler, like WIngs3d. Mudbox maybe will be my next favourite in zbrush high detail modelling area...

Not to name more specialized tools, often very good in workflow, sometime essential, like, while often present in a modeler, an uvmapping tool, my fav is Ultimate unwrap, which acts also as game formats animations conversion. Or 3d painting tools helping the texture stage, like Deep Paint3d.

To me, Metasequoia or Wings are clearly more powerful in the modelling area than Milkshape. Though lately -am a registered used for this one too- the author has added weights to joints, it seems, which makes it again interesting for me. Tho I animate with blender or max these days.
But in modelling, Metasequoia or wings are imho better, at least for organics.

Indeed, to me a poll of this...is nice, but you can't put in same place free and comercial...almost none here can purchase one of those (I have several aquired through years, but low/mid range mostly)

Anyway, for a poll, is a good bunch of tools.

For me, in free -in terms of no cost, not open source- good combo, could be:

modeler- wings3d,metasequoia. character Animation and render/real time 3d export(depends on game real time 3d or prerendered), for now to me is Blender, uvmaps can be done very well with wings, or blender. Texturing, perfectly with Gimp and some viewer to check updates.
but to me, are different areas...Zbrush is an specialized tool, can do 3d painting (not of my liking, neither the general UI, but am rare ) and hi res modelling, is not much adecuate for low pol modelling or uvmapping, imho. It has grown as the ace in its area, like wings did in its own, or unwrap3d in uvmapping.
