Social Engineering,
man you are really bad at this. With social engineering you ask the questions as a professional, give all the resources straight away at least you could have researched the role, and taken the identity of a write, and linked his articles.

By asking 2 questions, and saying Can you answer some questions is not how you do it you just ask the questions.

In my opinion it's also strange that his email address doesn't match his name and he's using a phantasy user name:
Amiga4Eva >>> James Matson >>> cmeyers1@optusnet.com.au

I don't care about this in general (also I don't like it), but he pretends to be a serious author who is looking for people to join a discussion and for this case it realy looks like a fake...

OK, this must not realy say anything about him, but it's prety strange and it realy doesn't look professional to me !!!

Well, just let's wait and see if we'll ever see this article...

Ok guys, I'll tell you what - I won't bother chasing up information about this particular engine, there are others - like Torque, that will do the job just fine.

What you're asking me to do, is prove my identity somehow over the internet. If I'd asked any of you to prove your identity over the net, how exactly would you go about it?

My name is James Matson. I write for gameplayer.com.au, which is owned and operated by Derwent Howard publishing. I also write for Atomic magazine, which is owned and operated by Haymarket Media.

Google if the names aren't familiar.

The nickname 'Amiga4Eva' is a name I have used when signing up to forums for a long time now, in fact - if you check here (one of my earliest online articles) http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/article.asp?CIID=21022 You'll notice they included my forum 'nick' in my name, e.g James 'Amiga4Eva' Matson.

I got talent scouted from that forum for my writing ability, and given a job freelancing for them.

I still fail to understand - and invite you to explain to me - why you think anyone would go to the effort of assuming the identity of a writer, and asking you a bunch of questions about the engine?

Why? Just...why? What would be the point? But you seem more willing to believe that, than believe I'm actually wanting to put together some good, solid information about the engine for an article.

The article will go ahead, it'll be in print form, and after the magazine has been out for a month, they'll whack it on the website.

At that point, I'll be sure to link it here for all of you, sadly I don't see any point in going through this meat grinder just to include information about the Irrlicht engine.

Like I said earlier, when I needed information for any topics that involved a user community online, I've always approached the forums, I've always posted a similar note to what I did here, and I've always had a positive response.

Except here.

Seems I've wasted your time, and you've wasted mine.

stay calm, they're giving you a hard time. there's no need to present any credentials here. you might be the president of australia for all i care.

nobody knows who you are and that's fine with me.

take it easy.

calm down, play a game, they'll go away.

now, go under a rock and have some fun.

Would make sense to assume good faith Acki, and gather evidence before making any accusations of dishonesty. It saves any hard feelings.

there was no offense from me (I hope)
there was just doubts I had... ;)
as I often saw people who pretends to be someone just because they think they get help faster this way... ;)
for example "I'm a great software developer that built ORPGs already" and it was just with a "click all together" game engine...
or "I'm a cute girl" and he wasn't...

and as I mentioned before, sometimes I like to provoke...
and a thread like this forces me to do so...

I mean I wasn't harsh or offensing (I never was at all in this forum) !!! ;)
And I must say he seems to have a very strong/good character, as far as other people would already be freaking out because of such posts...

well, I wish him good luck with his article and I'm looking forward to read it !!! ;)

----- RAMBLING COMPLETELY IGNORE THIS POST IF YOU DISLIKE CRAZY PEOPLE -----

Well I care if its the prime minister of Australia since i am from there. Anyway there is a completely logical explanation for this problem, the write used to many paragraphs which is very unlike a free lance writer by to many I mean 1 sentence makes a paragraph. The use of anti read gravity, also added to this fact. Then on top of this he generally did not sound like a writer, and programmers read a lot so they pick up on things especially like Acki whom probably knows what social engineering is and he also can Debug so he can probably pick up on tiny inconsistencies :D

So Good Job Acki.

But anyway I think we are all just bored and you haven't posted the questions yet. Also how can we be a Irrlicht Expert if its a open source engine and constantly changing, well beside niko, hybrid etc :D

Anyway this community is very friendly as I am currently housing the position of Noob of the Universe. : ) and its working out just fine for me :D

Oh answer this riddle to seek the next clue into the irrlicht community, what looks up but never down.

Hehehehe :D

No I am just working with my first ok-ish project and I am board. If you email Niko and give him more information than you did us he may answer you questions.. He is pretty busy. So on second thoughts... Oh well he is a nice guy :D
