No problem, I just get a little annoyed when I have to scroll along to read a post. It's more phpBB2's fault than yours, there's a fix somewhere I heard about. I gotta do the same thing to my forum because I use it to store all of my images 
Can't hurt to have them as opened links anyways. I usually create a thumb nail image that links to the bigger one, I don't think this version of the forum supports linked images though.
