Just to update my post about googleupdate.exe, if you don't want Chrome to install it, you have to download the offline version LINK it is 7.4 MB. I also believe that the portable version of chrome does not have googleupdate.

Kind of on topic for this thread, although I'm quite sure nobody has done it yet...

Google's V8 JavaScript VM is BSD licensed, is embeddable and actually compiles to machine code, it's supposed to be lightning fast too.
