I thought "we have sydney!" at first but seeing this it's quite cool!

But Irrlicht makes me think of light (as Sudi says, ghost light, will-o-the-wisp), so how about some glow? And I would imagine something a bit more creepy...

we can make it to glow... perhaps with irrlicht + some shaders?

I was thinking "patron". Perhaps if we swear allegiance to Her, and dedicate ourselves to Her Dark Cause.

I'm almost sure that she has a Dark Cause.

Great idea Virion! Though maybe it can be.. hmm.. little more glow-ish and maybe not like a child fairy but more of a small woman fairy (I think that's what rogerborg also meant.. :wink: )

be patient guys. the child irrlicht will grow, k. wait for sometime and it will turn H.O.T. (ok i will make another one next time)

for now, please check on this, it's rendered with irrlicht engine.

I have not added details to the shirt and skin yet. just to try out the colors and see if you guys like it. Oh and by the way, does irr engine support 2 side texture? the wings disappeared when view from another side.

any comment?

I believe there is a material for 2 sided sprites, so I'm guessing yes. But the problem here is that it's getting backface culled - I think the best solution is to put another polygon for other side. Another may be to disable backface culling, but i think that's a bad idea.

You can disable backface culling in the material, so it's per meshbuffer. Don't know if it's supported by any file format, though.

Oh yeh! For the rest, this fairy looks alot better though! :)

And I agree with a post above here, it's a nice model but I'm not sure if it's right for Irrlicht, the idea of Irrlicht having a mascot'd be cool.

I guess its debatable exactly what kind of mascot would be good to represent Irrlicht, but IMO having an uber-hot-fairy-fem probably may not be very... appropriate, shall we say.

but its a good idea so far Virion, I'm sure you will definitly "grow" the idea into something truly spectacular :lol:

seriously, I don't think its too bad, a tad chibi perhaps, but perfectly plausible

for the wings, why not just make them double sided, or perhaps even "thick" into a proper mesh shape rather than a flat thing; there's no real need for the poly-count to be *that* low, you could probably afford to add more details into the mesh.

its about time Irrlicht gets a mascot!

it isn't that low poly though. currently it's around 1600 faces (is poly the same with 'face' in blender?) i will try to reduce some manually, if possible.

the first shot was dark because of the light/shadow in blender while the rest had light disabled. I will add some darker tones onto the texture to make it look more solid.
