I use OpenGL all the time, although sometimes D39

OpenGL, mostly because for the longest time I didn't have the dx sdk and thus couldn't compile it from the SVN.

Burnings renderer... because my gfx card is completely br0ken.
So I'm very happy that it is there! Thanks Burnings

Well, perhaps in light of this poll we could check about stopping the support of DX8 and software (not burning) by 1.6R? Seems appropriate.

If the Xbox is the only reason why we're keeping DX8 support, the official XDK uses Visual Studio 6 which we've dropped anyway.
If we keep Xbox development but drop the official XDK (afaik none of us have a license anyway) the OpenXDK uses SDL and doesn't have hardware acceleration, so that's not really a good reason to keep DX8 support either.
imo the only reason to keep DX8 is if we have devs who enjoy supporting it!

No comment on software 1 for now. It would be really cool if we could swap it for BlindSide's software raytracer though :D

Hum, like i said, i'd really like DX8 still supported, as many old machines use it.

There is no point making new development on it. You can still use the 1.5 branch. It's as good as you'll get or mostly, anyway.

There's no point to drop it. As long as nothing really breaks the driver, we can keep it (with more or less features supported). And we will.

I use both OpenGl and DX9 (and rarely the burning renderer)

That's ok.

Indeed. I for one, would love to see raytraced Irrlicht scenes! Software 1 is redundant IMO.

Edit: Nobody speaks about the poor NULL device :(

Well, Null driver has pretty good FPS

Null is essential and is used for a whole different purpose than all others. It is pointless to bring it in this debate as it's about the only one that will likely always be there. (Though a scattering of it's functionality to other sections making it useless and permitting easier switching amongst the others and such would be nice ^^ )
