while you are at it check out quake2 source code,it's freely avaible and GPL'd. Graphics wise obviouslly it ain't up anywhere near where we r at today but still gives a good idea in what is involved in creating a FPS game

I am not going to develoo a game using HL engine-I hate Half-Life! :evil:
Eventually, i am waiting for Tenebrae 2;or Quake 3 Engine(by the end of this year). :P

If we are speaking about Q2,i should say that there are some Q2-based engines,which are nearly the same level as Q3(QFusion);
Q3 maps in QFusion look even better than in Q3!
QFusion has a BIG plus(and this plus of QFusion is VERY BIG minus in Irrlicht)-SHADERS!!!!
By the way,dont you know about implememtion of shaders in Irrlicht?!

Niko is working on it. It will be in Irrlicht 0.7 including a whole new material system. Check his blog :x

THATS LIKE REINVENTING THE HAMMER OR PENCIL....SIMULAR BUT NOT EXACT PEOPLE OR YOU'LL FIND YOURSELF WITH MANY WASTED HOURS OF HARD WORK....and only lame ass losers still play counter strike sad but true.
