Streamlined for gaming, or optimised for gaming?

Streamlined is easy just take out all the unneeded stuff for the install. But optimised for gaming? thats quite an undertaking I mean most linux people have a windows install somewhere for the sole purpose of gaming

(why use transgaming technologies when you can just load up windows and play the game?)

I wouldn't be surprised if MS did launch a legal attack, its their technology so I imagine they have a say on how its used.

one Thing I've noticed, is that because many linux distros vary in where they put things in the filesystem it's difficult to create a proper "installer" as such for distributing your game/product/software/whatever. The best system I've seen so far is RPM's, but they don't work on all Distro's either, only redhat-like ones. And even redhat keep moving crap around. Given how linux is put together from the collaborative work of thousands of people (millions maybe at this point...) it is amazing that it works at all, let alone is BETTER than windows in many areas. Traditional software engineering would insist that SOMEBODY sets down HARD standards for where things are, and how things are done to ensure compatibility. That is why(i think), a lot of distros lately are into this "install from source" thing. To get the real environment the original package creators intended, rather than it customized according to the whims of the distro maker...
