Ok, fellow dreamer, here's my two bits worth:

Great ideas! Now turn them realistic. Your best bet is to make a small-scale game that is really addictive, not go out for the big-time and hope it turns out well. I can see one small "world" where the player can do what they please, but make it cool like a seamless world, like a tiny little globe sort of thing. Be choosy about what's dynamic, determine what exactly the player's *verbage* consists of. That is, what exactly will the player be able to do? :P Get a whole list of for instance: Walk,Run,Jump,Strafe,Cut Down Trees, Mine Gold, Slash Sword,etc...etc... from that list, you can work on each feature, and keep adding features to make it more and more dynamic. But think small-scale! Tetris is still one of the most popular games in the world, even thought it is considered one of the most simple. After all, if you can get the small stuff down, who says you can't keep adding on? IDK if that was clear enough, but I say take that ambition and narrow down where you're aiming, so that you can really hit the bullseye.

1) movement

-walk (forward/backward)
-strafe (left/right)
-look around/turn (with mouse)
-jump
-swim
-crouch
-prone => (not sure if needed)

2) actions (i asume there are skill points for these)

-forge (make a weapon/tool) => maybe we can devide this in subclasses (like fletching, smithing,...)
-equip and use a (several) weapon(s)/tool(s)
-mine (coper, silver, gold, iron,...)
-cut tree
-build a house/stable/...
-hunt (for animals, the better you get at this the bigger the animals you can kill)
-light fire
-cook
-craft items (non-weapons/tools)
... (there is a lot to think of here, but this would be a nice start :p)

3) interaction with others

-trade
-make a clan/tribe/...
-talk (duh :p)
-work together on a bigger project (maybe a dam or a town hall)
-clan/tribe/... wars

4) quests (this will be a tricky part because you start on an empty world)

I suggest that higher ranked players have the option to give a lower ranked player a quest.
If that player completes the quest, he gets experience => higher ranking in the clan/tribe/...

5) the development of the world (a part that we can implement at any time)

The more developed the world gets, the more people will want to travel (you dont want to see everyplace over and over again).
So, if they reach a certain level of development, they can train horses (from the moment they have stables and such) to ride on. They may invent the weel (lol, reinvent the weel :p) => coach (to travel with more people at the time). And this can develop on and on.

This was just a simple example of the development, there are other areas that can develop (actualy, everything should be able to develop but for now, we should leave this part of the game untouched because it is very hard and we can implement it at any time)

If we manage to do all or a part of that, i think we can be realy happy.
But first, we need more people to help at this project, just 3 programmers will not be enough.

We are actually already working on it. We have 3d artists already, and will soon have at least 2 more programmers as we already have one. The design docs are already half done and we are well into the planning stages. So I'll take that bet, and that dollar. And maybe instead of betting against us, you could throw in with us and help us out.

Just an update, the team now consists of 5 programmers, 3 artists, a web page designer, and a musician. We are in need of more artists, mainly 2d concept artists and gui design artists, but I would also like another 3d modeler/skinner. And you totally owe me a dollar Midnight.

Dont worry, when we get to demo stage we will be letting people see it. By the way, what do you do Midnight? Programmer, artist, full-time flamer?
