this is a very very good paper. Talks about using realtime engines for architectutal visualization:

and here's a link to the runtime forums where we were doing some experiments (long time ago, before getting involved with Irrlicht) of using the unreal engine for architectural visualization; EPIC got very interested in it and wanted to include some of the projects we (the users) were creating in newer versions of the runtime; also for merchandising purposes, they wanted to show uses different from game development to potential customers. (And that's where my FTP space came from :D ; they asked me to upload everything I created there; but then it became a whole bunch of realtime stuff).

I designed that house, modeled it in max, exported as ase (following some rules) and then imported into unreal.
