From the three years of education I only remember one sentence:
From three years of german I only remember two:

Ich verstehe was du meinst

Actually this was pretty much perfect german. Except for "korrekte Deutsch" because it would be "korrektes".

However speaking perfect german is something that most germans can't so why bother? ^^

I guess it's just a habit from programming... The compilers yell at me even for a missing comma ><

To end all the weird foreignness, here's an update on my super-awesome poké-project:

Image

This is route 1 (for those of you who have never played the games, this is the very first route you go on)
The base texture is a placeholder, so don't worry about the quality, I'm still fleshing out the map (don't worry about the shadows under the trees either, that's going to be fixed as well)

The map-switching functionality pointed out a couple of serious bugs in my engine's audio system, so I spent quite some time yesterday fixing them
They're all cleared up now though and everything works like a charm

By the way, I'm supporting very high resolutions in this game, anyone up for pokemon in 1920x1080? :D

Where is the "like" button?

Pokemon in Full HD is everything I ever wanted :')

Here you go, just for you :D

This is going to look great once I start working on polish
I've already set up a database of all 649 monsters with all traits exactly like you would find them in the games, including all sprites (+ shinies) and I've compiled it down to a compact engine-readable format (You'd think this would be the hardest part of the game, but with all the ROM hackers around this was quite easy)

All the algorithms for a battle system are in place too, just have to tie everything together

EDIT: I'm thinking about redesigning this map, its design is very limited right now since the system it was supposed to run on was limited, but since I'm working on a powerful platform I can elaborate some routes
What do you think? Stick to the original, or artistic freedom?

Pure awesomeness!
But please, add an option for us who only like the first generation pokemoans.
What kind of elaborations do you have in mind?

I was thinking about adding some more non-billboard graphical elements to create a nice atmosphere, and to give the impression that you're actually walking down a grassy plane in between cities
To create this illusion maps have to be bigger though, but this shouldn't be a problem, it'll just take a bit longer to create the maps

Also, I want cities to be more city-like, in the original games you see a lot of so called 'cities' with only 3 or 4 houses, and 3 or 4 houses don't make a city

Btw, here is a screenshot of the current version of the inside of a pokecenter, I haven't adjusted the lighting for it yet, so it still uses the directional light and tonemapping from outdoor scenes

Which of the games are you taking the map from?
