Who is everybody?
Soooo right, here goes:
I'm currently 14 years old
I've been programming for 6 years now. I started out in perl with some simple adding and subtracting and making very simple programmes that allowed a user to input two numbers and add or subtract them. I've then on did not much more of the same, did a bit of that in C++, I've been in java making some knock knock server/client models, wrote a PHP IRC Bot from scratch with just the IRC RFC (That's 1400 something) to help me with all the raw commands (No eggbot or nothing for me) and then went back to perl to write web spiders, haven't found a good use for them yet though.
Now I've moved back on (Yeh, it's like back to the future paradox like that) to C++ because I found Irrlicht. I've known that I wanted to do graphics programming for about 3-4 years now, but I lack the skills to write my own graphics engine or to directly write graphics to the screen, so can you imagine how happy I was to find Irrlicht?
So I hope you guys will see a nice game rolling out from under my belt in about 1-3 year(s).

PS. Where's the guy in this thread saying Hey, <list of names here> every so often? :O

Hi,
I'm 25, working as a programmer for 5 years now.
I know PHP, Java, C#, C++, Javascript, ASP.NET and SQL.
I can draw, too, but I just don't have the time to practise so this is the ONLY good drawing that I have made so far.
And now I want to create a Single Player RPG with the Irrlicht Engine and I really can't wait to present you something, but I have to plan first, so it will take a while.
Btw. I do have a homepage http://www.codefragment.de

hi,
i'm 19(m), from germany, 13th grade in school, this is my last year.
i probably want to study informatics and politics and become a teacher, this seems more realistic than my plans i had few months ago with studying game design what would cost me thousands of euros.
I program in C++, PHP, mySQL and little bit HTML (but i hate those scripting languages like PHP... ).
I came in touch with Irrlicht a year ago and managed to lead a project in our "project week" few weeks ago, in wich we rebuild our school, using maxon cinema4D, google sketchUp, valve's hammer editor and Irrlicht. What i did there was writing an alorithm that helps increasing the framerate (those school-PCs only have onboard-graphic wich is pretty lame with >100.000 polys ) with making the parts of the building invilsible, that are not in the field of view and everything like loading & placing the models correctly (the building was split up in 18 parts), sound and lighting and a user interface.
Also i managed to make my Info teacher taking 3D-Programming into his lessons for teaching 12th-grade-pupils class- and object-orientated programming.
i like skateboarding and playing guitar (band), also conversations about politics and the society (i don't like the people here very much...).
Oh and i do like punkrock a lot, but also listen to 90's HipHop, Metal and Ska a bit.
At the moment i'm collecting ideas for a game (and i do have a lot ), but i'm still trying out, how realistic it is for those, to put them into irrlicht.

Now, that's an interesting political slogan ;-)psychophoniac wrote: i like <snip> conversations about politics and the society (i don't like the people here very much...).

oh i'm not like an anarchist, i passed this phase
and yes, i hate the german society for being so ignorant and conservative.
oh just saw you're from germany, so what i mean are CDU-members and these youths we call "assis"
besides that, our generation has NOTHING. our parents had (for example) woodstock, large political demonstrations and they united germany again, and what do we have? we have RTL&MTV, germanys next topmodel and a generation suffering from being unable to talk to others, because we're chatting and wathing TV all day long

MEL is my nick, it has a long stroy behind, involving too much odd things to say here. But it doesn't stand for "Maya Embeded Languaje".
My true name is Santiago Alberto, i'm too old for my own good, although people say that 29 is a prime number. Whatever.
I live in Granada, Spain, although i was born in Barbate, in Cadiz, in Spain. I'm in University (still) studying computer science, and A.I., and algorithm design in plain old C, c++ came after, I started in this thing of computer graphics and programming then, back in 1995, when the first computer came to my home. Allegro and DJGPP were my first tools for program creations, and 3DSR4 the 3D program then. Although then it was much more artistical to get anything good looking, in that time i knew little c++ or programming in general to get something decent, so, i could do very little, and it was MSDOS, while people was starting to move to WIN95, and Direct3D. I worked for a cheap company doing 3D graphics during 2 years. The boss there was a stupid little dwarf with too much ego for his own good, and i ended upset of him, so i quit from it. http://www.santangelopremier.com/ is the best we could do. I did most of the exteriors in that animation, the red car included, and put the plants, one by one. I love Manga, anime, and videogames, and my experience with Irrlicht started when an exworker of that cheap company and i started to look for a nice engine to create our own racing game. We found this, and then, he got fired, and the project went with him. I also had my ideas there, so, i continued investigating this great engine, and learning C++ in the process.
I know 3DSMAX from 2.5 to 2009 to do 3D, and work currently with 8.0, i also use Photoshop to get texture works, and to paint my pictures and concept arts. And i think i leave out little else.
What else? i have a dream, a stupid kid's dream that is to create and sell a videogame, Is it bad to have a dream? I don't know, but that's my wish. I hope to get it one day, if not, at least, i don't want to have the feeling that i didn't try.

Hey everyone, I just joined the forums. I am a 19 year old male from the USA. I can't really remember when I started programming, but I think my first language was python. I took BASIC, Visual Basic, Java, and C++ classes in high school. Just recently I've started teaching myself C++ again after using Python for awhile. For the past week now, I started learning Irrlicht, and for a pretty light experienced programmer as myself, the engine is very easy to learn and use. Anyway, HI
Mel: Nice work on http://www.santangelopremier.com/ website. I'm sure you'll be able to make a cool game.
Anyway, My name is Ben. In my free time I use Irrlicht to create little gameworlds, test programs and other Art related stuff like 2D art and Textures. With the intention that someday, a cool-looking gameworld will be created using Textures and Shaders.

It took a lot of time to do that, but because of bad planning. My work is only with the exteriors, and i must say that the tree, bushes and car models were already done (taken "kindly" from evermotion.org, read, my boss used the mule to get all the models). I learnt quite a lot of things, almost redid all the materials, because my boss saw them too brilliant, and of course, set all things in place. Was an ordeal. From that animation, what i like the most is the material i did for the mountain behind, it is 2 textures mixed in the form that, if the texture faced the "Y" axis, it showed grass, and if it was perpendicular to the Y axis, it showed stone, mixed in a way that if you were too close, it showed a texture with more resolution, and if watched from far, it showed a less detailed texture.

Hey all--
I am Josh, a currently 20-year-old independent game developer and college sophomore with a major in Computer Science.
I've been playing video games since I was two years old and developing them since I was twelve. My game development career started with RPG Maker on PlayStation, proceeded into Game Maker a year later, and then proceeded into C++ a couple of years after that. I've worked mainly with CDX and Allegro but haven't had any major C++-written releases yet at this time of writing. I've also taken up web programming with PHP/MySQL.
You might recognize some of my work- particularly a browser-based MMORPG called Seeds of Time Online which launched at the start of this year and has somewhere around 20,000 registered members so far.
I picked up Irrlicht a couple of weeks ago, having remembered it from an online buddy of mine, Keless, talking about it a lot a couple of years ago. Much to my surprise, it was very easy to get into, compared to DirectX and OpenGL.
I'm now working on what I hope will become a 3D remake of an old game I created with Game Maker in 2002 at the age of 13: Stealth Prankster (old game hosted on old website).

Hello, i'm 24 and i'm from Romania.
I'm working as IT Technician and Network Technician, i like to make gameworlds in c++ and Irrlicht, currently i'm working on a project called "VeeDub Customizer", still much to learn from here but i'm on the right path , also i've made some projects in Irrlicht for my former University class mates.
In 2002 i've started working on an server emulator for WoW but i've lost interest and then i found irrlicht and since then i'm using it
