Most cross platform libs are easier to use and learn then windows-only libs. Visual C++ as an IDE SUCKS SO BAD!!!!!!! Developing on linux compared to windows is super easy.

Making your project crossplatform is not difficult at all, infact it is quite rewarding because windows compiles sometimes pick up bugs that the linux ones didnt and vice versa. Linux might have a small market compared to windows, but when you make a good game for linux, YOU GET THE WHOLE DAMN MARKET! Unlike windows, good luck having someone even your give your game name even 5 seconds let alone visit your site at all (forget downloading and playing).

I'm using windows, but not because I think Linux sucks. Linux is nice, but most of the software I use (my good old Paintshop Pro, for one of my other hobbies (music) Steinberg Cubase and Wavelab) just isn't available on Linux, so I'll stick with Windows. I tried to get a Knoppix Live-DVD running on my computer, didn't work, maybe I'll try an OpenSuse Live sometime, but that's not my main target.

Linus attacked Linux on a couple of occasions...
Bill attacked Windows on a couple of occasions...
Steve attacked Apple and Mac OS on a couple of occasions...

Do you really think this is relevant? Cloud-computing, shared app, web app, integrated computers, etc., it's all partially here or around the corner. It won't take forever for all those things we're getting used to to change drastically. But then again, it happened before, with OS with GUIs and the web.
