Since such an engine is usually an ongoing project, I suggest you use versions instead of status (1.0.1 vs alpha)

Of course, you can combine both and say you are at 1.0a and then 1.0b, 1.0f and finally 1.0g (alpha, beta, final, gold)

Good idea though AFAIK gold is bug-free so I would probably wont get that far

Gold is not bug free. Gold is passing a predetermine amount of time under heavy testing without finding bugs of a certain level. Counter resets every time you find one. For example, one place I worked for had a gold if for 3 days no major or higher bugs were found.

I've been requested to print two copies of the documentation and the code of NGE for college - don't ask why. I'm gonna use this post also to introduce you the new documentation that I've been working on in the last two weeks.
First off, the pictures of the 'book' I've made

That's 16 pages of guide and about 1000+ of doxy docs + plain code:

And a quick glance at the presentation file:

And now the 'juicy' part:
NGE_Manual_v0.1.pdf - About 16 pages.
NGE_QuickGuide_v0.1.pps - about 53 slides.

If you can't download from rapidshare please PM me and I'll tell you what to do.

While writing those docs I've found quite a lot of bugs, about 10 or so and I've only fixed about 4 so neither the stable branch nor the trunk branch are stable.
Also I'll announce a second beta with a much more stable version soon so watch out of it. I've also didn't update the site for quite long (a month or so) so I'll do a lot of updating to it soon, too.

Please report if you have suggestions for improvements of the docs or any comment you have, everything is welcome. I won't print it of course but I'll update the digital ones

Oh and in case you're interested it took me 5 days to write the manual and 1 day (today, about 6 hours) to write the presentation file aka QuickGuide.
Oh and that's about 100$ bucks @ Office Depot printing all of this.

Hmm, great job. Just one complaint. RapidShare sucks, could you put them on the Irrlicht IRC FTP Dump. Seriously, RapidShare wants me to enter the code, and I enter the correct one, but it continues to tell me that they are wrong. It's a little annoying...
