Honestly, if you are just looking to be preemptive, and to start a heated discussion, which you seem keen to, then please subside you controversial statements.
As I know what you're talking about, I know it might sound like that but I'm sure he doesn't want to fight again. :)

lol, well ill make it simple.

ITS A COMMUNITY EVENT. no crying, it will be community based. if u read anything of what me and halifax have said u will already see from the outset the few aims :

To accomodate all time zones.
To record and redeliver content for free
To allow people to come forward with ideas.

Dont take the wrong stance here, suggest what u want to see,

in my opinon dorth, if u say "im going to show u about gui graphics" but you have no sort of epic gui going or whatever, and the guy in line next to you has created the next best thing to hit GUI since the pixel, of course the COMMUNITY would choose, but there will be wisdom in deciding.

Bring forward ideas, i am busy propogating and researching. im watching stats, im watching IRC, im watching the forums. im watching all that i can to make it the best it can be, not an exclusive party of 5 talking about what they wish irrlicht wud have or how great they are.

it aims to bring the message from gdc, but take it one step further.
make games better,
by teaching the irrlicht community the BEST way to use the engine for what it is.

So, yea :)
its not a leet members club, i decided to step in and plan it because i have a lot of experience with event management and i happen to have run many a tournament in my day, as well as teaching at a school for over 4 years, ill make sure to include everyone possible. even if its "slaughter sessions" of 24 hours straight of awesome content delivery from a host of people.

Its going to be, a good thing.

idea are, as stated, more then welcome :)

its not "my" or halifax conference. its IDC, irrlicht developers conference.
watch this space :P

Hehe, thanks for showing Fuzzy ;)

Yeah, the whole "if the next guy has the next big thing" is why I suggested parallel rooms and approved the recording. This way, if the next guy IS better, but comes after, he just takes room #2. We should all at least one day ahead post a small post or topic (maybe open a section in the forum for that) that present the conference. So people know which they'd rather attend. If all are recorded, the least popular is still there for others to read on. No judgment of who has the best topic this way. First come, first serve, all served, all recorded.

i dont think every hack job shud have a place, tho no.

but, i am not saying dont have multiple rooms. we can have a "hacklounge" where anyone can share topics and what not as well.

For the conference "deisgn"

Set slots, at set times. content deliverers(devs) will have time to prepare, and will have access to graphics to use for the content to make it all standardised, all content will be managed through a couple of guys running the thing. this is not set yet so dont feel left out.

the thing is, there needs to be structure. there is organised chaos, but thats in a seperate place. i am proposing (based on community ideas and my own) a layout, a time table, and a proposed managed format to the whole thing.

That way, feel free to do the same. the community decides in all, its not a competition of whose the best manager, or anything of the sort. i stepped up so i can give what i have(gfx, management, time) to give a great experience for speakers and listeners all round.

See, with a structure and a set format and functionality, conference two can be anything from 2 weeks to a year away, improving on the mistakes we had before.

your idea is not bad, its just not a way i wud progress.
there needs to be goals, without a structured list of whats happening u cud have 2000 guys ready to speak, and 2000 entrants. that means nobodoy listens or joins,

anyway. its semantics.
wtch this space, still today(within the hour) im suggesting(not making it official) some graphics for the conference.

:)

Hmm, I think that would just make things to hectic. Let's take an example. Five people want to discuss how to handle events in Irrlicht. Basically, all those conferences are just going to be repititions.

If anything, I would rather have people that are going to be working on the same topic, work together. That way you don't have 5 times the reading, you have one conference that is improved by 5 people.

Sure... as long as the 5 get along, have similar schedules and really do want to talk about similar stuff.

Nice though green isn't much of an Irrlicht color IMHO  .

And maybe rooms for Irrlicht projects could be made, for example BlindSide can talk with people about his many addons and project leaders (of projects using Irrlicht) can use IDC to talk with people about their projects.
I'm not sure how well you'll take this but I guess such stuff is good enough for IDC. (I'm not sure 'good' is the right word though but you get what I mean)

Well, the docs and half of the logo has purple background so that's what I had in mind as an "Irrlicht color"
