The new "Minority Report" style controls that are being developed are pretty ground-breaking. Now we need an OS that flows nicely with them, and we'll be in the FUTURE!
Anyway, I was thinking the other day about all the resources I'd need if I wanted to open a small, 2-person web design office. When it came to computers, the only thing I could firmly decide on, I knew that I wanted AOpen MiniPC's with Ubuntu installed on them. That would be a beautiful combination. F*** Vista, Ubuntu FTW.
F*** Yeah, woot Ubuntu! (This message was posted from inside Windows XP because the user still wants to use DirectX etc.., but if he wanted to look kool at his lectures in uni Ubuntu + Beryl it is! )
I am interested in those Minority Report style controls please elaborate...
I'm stuck on sabayon linux. Best video performance i ever got out of a linux box. Only thing i hate about it is that its gentoo based and it can sometimes take forever to install things.

Seriously I plan to use Win2k until I'm forced to upgrade, then will probably move to Linux. I don't like the idea of Vista
yeah i know it is an old reply but windows 95 makes your life sad and dark but xp with it's themes make it very funny and nice to be able to work in a fresh envroment
but vista will win winxp because the dx10 support and also it's design
Wooow, after reading all this thread from post 1...
Well, I'm buying a new computer in the next few days and of course it comes with Vista but I'm planning on installing also XP and Solaris.
IMO, don't judge vista cause its microsoft's (I know my sig says otherwise but I'm serious now), if you don't like it but still want to make that jump just install MORE OSs! whats the big deal! who says you must have only ONE OS at a time!! Ho, and for all of you saying how pretty Vista's GUI is.. JUST DOWNLOAD THE DAMN VISTA THEME FOR XP!!
I personally don't like Vista, at all. Not to mention the bugs that it has... but the main thing is that it is pretty slow. I mean, even your RAM, processors etc are fast enough to run it, but it is still slow. i think probably... Microsoft intentionally made it slower so that you can see the "nice animated graphic" and WOW for it? sucks.
I'd like to give a big shout-out to Vista for corrupting the (only active) account on my brother's desktop, making it unable to log in even after I'd wiped the password with a Linux-based recovery tool. I've never seen or heard of 2K or XP doing that.
dunno...somewhere I heard certain big hardware company is getting permission to downgrade(upgrade) their new machines sold to be using XP instead of the Vista they were including...Imo XP worked decently in comparison...Well, indeed, at work I've still been able to avoid the upgrade..to vista...
