Quark problems...

Hello! I'm currently working on a small tour-like program. Basically, it's just a simple project to learn the basics of Irrlicht. The "game" will have a huge open castle where you can explore. I plan to test different effects and such with it.

I want to use Quark as my level editor, but I can't find a way to make it run without the games listed. I don't have any of them.

Is it still possible to run Quark?

...I thought you were talking about the theoretical, nub-nucleon particle, from the title, heh. I've never heard of quark. A quick look at the site's download section though would suggest you can't in fact edit without the games. However, it says you can with Crystal Space, and I'm fairly certain that's freeware/shareware, though I could be wrong. Good luck though...

Quark uses textures from correspondent game. You must set these textures.
For exe file of game you can rename your exe file like those of game.
If you want to start your game within Quark, you must take parameters for your main function.
Yet you can use only quake3 bsp in irrlicht

Nexus: you might want to look at DeleD for making your castle, it has built-in lightmapping too. I tried Quark and found it impossible to use w/o Quake 3.

I've used DeleD in the past for simple things. But I absolutely HATE the way it positions objects. I'd rather just drag them around instead of entering in a direction to move it in and hoping I get the correct distance.

Afecelis had a tutorial up a while back on how to use quark without the listed games. Let me hook you up with it:
