Hardware pushing at its finest! GPU renderer

Post by Geforce »

Do NOT buy a Geforce 6 its not worth it. But, please, could the guys who have one test these
very seductive apps and tell us what the fuss is all about?

Thank you for your attention.

I'm not sure why you're going around saying this, I think the 6 series is very well done. In fact I'd recommend the new 6800GS ($200 US) to anyone needing a good budget card (performs better than the original 6800 GT).

I'm an ATI guy by the way.

Anyway I'm not sure about the one on the first link, but the second one appears to be a GLSL/HLSL render written most likely with some of the features of Pixel Shader 3.0, which is only available in the 6 series and up for the nVidia and the new x1000 series for the ATI. Probably the same case with the other one as well, but I cant find any download links

Download links are directly on these pages. I wonder why you can't find them. I was pondering buying a new graphics card because of these apps and i would simply like to know wether its worth it, without seducing others. Did i ask too much?

NVidia owns ATI, all I have to say. They actually support Linux. :P

You most certainly can, 9600XT sells for less than $100 and is significantly faster than the 5500FX.

Best Buy might carry it. Dunno about wally world, I don't like having to sell my soul to devil like you do with that place

Also if you need Linux support as the other people have said then Nvidia would be a better choice.

No no please. No ati contra nvidia flamewar. I did not mention ati cause they are not really useable with Linux.

Nobody had a look at the GPU renderers?
Especially the japanese one looks very promising.

Danke Dir. Well i think for just two minutes it looks freaking awesome for me its close to perfect. Being a realtime freak i always hated to have to wait for the output of renderers eternally. Things become to get interesting. Two minutes with GI, thats really close to bearable.
