Visual Express 2005

Post by Guest »

Why was the thread closed... I was asking you guys a question.

"Do you like the new Express office XP look?"

or

"Would you rather microsoft convert it back to the native win32 look?"

Now could somebody...

Why the gently caress does that cause someone to close a thread????

So, maybe the 'moderators' of this forum which never releases any half decent games.... pffft... Even demo's. Need to re-read the thread before they try to show off there little forum super powers and hit close.

mother funking cheers.

your reaction only proves we were right. you just wanted to start a snowball and that's called trolling.

If you want such a topic to be taken seriously at least take 5 and register. We've discussed msvc 2005 stuff seriously before. It's just that for us it's important to know who things come from.

and please mind your language.

ps. about releasing stuff games, demos... we're happy with what we've released so far and we're happy if it helps the community somehow. Besides that, modding is nothing but a labour of love so please don't demmand from us to be Epic Megagames when we have to deal with stuff like yours.

I can now only invite you to register.

I think this is a great topic. VS 2005 I'm not liking at all. The look and feel I think are OK, the editor is great. The stability, customization and speed of compiling is tremensdously worse. Apparently, the BETA community begged MS not to release it, but they did anyways, even admitting many things were broken but they weren't important enough to push the release date. That pretty much guarantees that there will be a service pack, hopefully also for the Express edition. Even the Pro edition is a piece of crap at this point, IMO.

hehehe, great opinion. Although he didn't mean to discuss about the compiler or IDE "Per Se " but about the chances of skinning the IDE to get a new look n' feel.

anyway, feel free to keep on discussing about it here. Perhaps I was a bit "nervous" of having such a post from a guest account pop out out of nothing just like that.... And I just wanted to see how the thread evolved. We've been getting some weird-spam posts lately that start out as something semi-related to Irrlicht and end up linking to dating services-porn etc. Hence the paranoia.

happy sunday! :D

I can understand afe's reaction.Statiscally threads initiated in a way, end in certain other way. But yup, generally talk about express, its compilation, and how can be integrated with Irrlicht is not a bad thread. Specially if speak about it people so experienced like Spintz. I don't say for myself,(I'm an artist, u know) but for some friends coders. For example, some yet have some big issues to compile c++ with Visual c++ 2005 express...
Finally making games again!

Maybe it is just me, or my year 2000 computer, but it seems everytime I run visual express. Everything runs completely slow.

Now afe I wasn't talking about skinning it, Because what would that do about speed.

What exactly is the point of making this IDE 'look .NET' anyways. GO BACK TO THE NATIVE CONTROLS. Don't you agree?

Now I have just recently left my 2002(academic)version to goto 2003 and also 2005express. And it has gone down hill.

The look  Bin it! I don't think we need to skin it, we just need to turn the skin off! Maybe we can change one of the dlls to an old version? Find the Luna hooks and make them return 0?

Hopefully XNA will return back to the more hard core form, that seems to be the game develeopers preference. With out leveling us with a whole bunch of silly restrictions. If not the community will be able to put the presssure on them, and they can' t then say, you are a minor user group and its like that for all the other developers out there that use .net. Why does my comon sense scream at me, we will have a custom next gen level slick black and fluro green skin with lots of bling crome to encorage us to make games for the tendy game players.
