RANDWELT greets the world

Post by Veiter »

Hello together,

i'm currently developing a 3D-RPG with a few peoples.
Here you find a few screenshots of the actual version:

http://randwelt.andyarts.de/showtopic.php?threadid=162

Because of needing much creativity (and last but not least a few more models and textures), we're looking forward to any sort of help. However, RANDWELT is not commercial, we do it basically for fun.
You find our forum (only in german) at

http://randwelt.andyarts.de

There the game can be downloaded. It includes a configuration file which is a low-level-editor. So be free and modify!!

If there are any people who want to help us, be welcome in the forum.
Nice ideas will suffice completely, because the technique is not so difficult like finding a good story and the "building" of the imaginary world.

There the game can be downloaded
Not quite. It should say there you can search for the game yourself after registering to the forums. Make sure you learn german before you even try. No seriously, why don't you simply give a direct download link?

That's true, i ignored the language :)
I'm afraid there is no direct link because the download section is a php-script. But after the login you can click top right below the word "Downloadbereich".

However, a deprecated link is:

A few weeks ago a new version (0.1.5) was released. Of course there are some screenshots again:

http://randwelt.andyarts.de/showtopic.php?threadid=161

The most important feature: Now you can fight against ants. With [k] three ants appear somewhere on the map. Moreover, a new level (a village in a forest) was added. Here the player will begin his adventure.

If you have nice ideas for story, monsters or quests, please reply! If you speek german, please join us! (http://randwelt.andyarts.de)

After 2 months of work a new release is finished! (0.1.6)

Now there's an eternal war at the first level. Ants try to break through the rows of patrouilling dwarfs, completely autonomous! Of course the player can get into the act, too, but beware of the red ant-queen! You can adjust the size of the two armys with [1] and [2], and you can throw a huge fireball with the right mouse button. This will knock off an army in a few seconds.

In the forest you shouldn't go too far away from the village because evil creatures lurk in the darkness between the trees. Can you defeat all 12 enemys?

You can fly with [O] and take your weapon with [F].

We wish you a lot of fun with the game, and i request you to write a short feedback here.

Our forum is: http://randwelt.andyarts.de
After registration the game ca be downloaded in the upper right "Downloadbereich".

Good luck!

its coming along nicely Veiter!

it only runs at around 20fps on my compuet (crap graphics card), but even then it plays fine.

I noticed two 'glitches' though.
- the buildings sometimes dissapear when they are still visible on the edge of the camera.

you could easily fix this by using bigger bounding-boxes
- when running up terrain, and the knife is out, the arm 'vibrates' a lot. maybe its because of the low frame-rate? I don't know

I was also thinking: what's the point of the Knife if you can just fire a 'cannon blast' (or whatever)?
maybe you should have a restriction on the number of blasts you can do, and have 'ammo' lying around...

I'd like to see more COMPLETE Irrlicht Projects just as much as anyone here,
and I hope you can get that far with RANDWELT, commercial or not

Keep up the good work!

:D

Thank you, fmx, for testing and reporting.

In fact, the cannon blast is not part of players skills but it makes much fun. In future, the player will not be allowed to use this any more.

I also wonder about the disappearance of some buildings. We use the irrlicht-collision-detection, so it seems to be an irrlicht problem, doesn't it?

I proudly presents the new release of Randwelt:
http://randwelt.andyarts.de/download/Randwelt_0_1_7.rar

Here are some screenshots:

The main feature ist an inventory-management. It's quite easy to create your own items. They are all configured with xml-files.
Furthermore, a new fighting system is implemented. In the forest there are some new plants and a new skybox. In the prolog, dark spiders appear with [3], [4] and [5].
