Cinema4D | animated .x | irrlicht | doesn't work

Post by Holiday »

Hi,
I am using Cinema4D R10 as a modeler and i have some troubles here.
Since Irrlicht doesn't support animated .3ds (the model is animated, 20 frames), i try to export it to .x.

But when i load the mesh, irrlicht says, that no material was found in the .x file.

(When I export it to .3ds, it works all right, but not animated. .x doesn't work at all..)

Any suggestions?

It uses different type of X file. Use XPort plugin:

In C4D 10 use version for C4D 9. It works fine.

if you have 3Ds max you could import your .3ds file and than export using Panda Exporter or DX Exporter which comes with DX SDK i use second one all the time because Panda Exporter needs to be resaved using DXViewer i am a bit lazy so i use one wich comes with SDK , the animation for it works ok.
using Visual Studio 2003 , I use 3D Max 7, I love irrlicht its a really good and easy engine

Yeah, thank you kalda.

The exporter seems to work (havent tried anim yet)

Now, why are all the objects in the .x are aligned to [0][0][0] ?
I mean, that all the separate objects (like, lets say we have a tank, head, wheels, doors..) are at [0][0][0] ?

If you know what i mean..

Gee,
I converted all objects to polygonal and works.
Well, it doest, but only for static meshes.

When i set that i want to export frames, it alignes to the center again..

Oh..
I read the tutorial and it says that only bone animations are to export,
which is not good.. Is there any format for animated 3d meshes, where bone-animating is not necessary? (I would like to use rich animation capabilities of cinema 4d, that i've used to)

You can use MD2 or for keyframe based animation, but you are only allowed one material. I think MD3 is keyframe based too

Last time I loaded an MD3 I couldn't move, rotate, or scale it with Irrlicht. Converted it to 3ds and I could.... so MD3 could be hard to work with. Just a heads up.
