Post by 3DRT.com »

We've released a new 3d collection. Animated mech robots pack.

Full 3d models list here

Image

It consists of 4 unique meshes + 26 skins for each.
(1 texture pattern is applied to everything with our usual technique.)
2048x2048 texture size for best quality, though can be reduced to 1024x1024 with minor quality loss.
Bump, normal, specular and illuminations maps included.
.PSD source included for easy texture customization.
+15 weapons, that use same 26 skins for main mechs. Some of them below.

33 animations
Polygon count 3-6K triangles per robot.
File formats included: .max(3dsmax 7.0), .X (DirectX), .ms3d (Milkshape), .w3d (Macromedia Director), .FBX (Autodesk FBX), .dts(Torque engine), .ma (Maya)

Wow, the mechs are awesome, so are their animations.... but isn't 6K poly a tad too much detail..??

Depends when you're planning on releasing a game using them. It's mid-high end today, but Mecha games tend not to cram the screen with units; in a couple of years, on-board chipsets will be pushing 10K characters without breaking stride.

6k poly is the biggest guy that is supposed to look like 50 meters tall in a game. Rest are 2-4k, all the info on polycount is on the page by linke posted above.
There are over 30 animations, again video is posted in 1st post. Those moving figures in video are animated mechs.

Very nice, and great value. If I can offer some constructive criticism, all of the models seem broadly similar; a bit more variety (quads, tripods, clearly lighter or heavier models) would be an attractive proposition.
