FreeWorld3D v0.1.0 Terrain Editor Released

Post by soconne »

I have just released a demo version of my terrain editor for people who are interested. It is a full fledge outdoor terrain and world editor where you can edit terrain, paint textures directly onto it, import mesh files, add skyboxes, fog, lighting, ect.....

You can read the full description of features and capabilities on my web site
<a href="http://cs.selu.edu/~soconnell/freeworld ... World3d</a>

If you download the demo, please feel free to leave any feedback or bugs in the forums so that they can be worked out before I release the final full version. Thanks :-)

Hey LordNaikon, I fixed the problem with activating your forum account, you can re-register again if you like. And I'll look into your graphic glitch more.

I'd suggest that the pop-up window that opens when you want to modify things like the heights should be part of the GUI landscape rather than in a window. I get annoyed enough with Photoshop doing that to me and they have scalable windows that I can move out the way :)

yes looks like a gui window pop up but with no content! and after a few seconds it's gone. or looks like these help pop ups with a description when you are over a button

So the graphic glitch only appears for a moment? Or does that distortion stay?

Well when I come out with v1.0.0, you'll be able to export the heightmap, the alpha maps associated with the alpha layers, and also any data associated with meshes (position, rotation, scale, ect...), the entities, sky, water, ect...

Basically you'll be able to create an entire level and get all the data from it so you can load it into your game. I might also release the fileformat of the binary file that the program saves to. But I'm still working on the specs for it.

yes, the graphic glitch only appears for a moment

(sorry my English is not so good) i don't know if you understand what i'm trying to explain ( i do not know the english counterparts of gui elements)

with some try i has figured out :

if i am over a button then appears the little help popup thing ( over the terrain layer button the little help pop up near the mous "Terrain Layer")
as long as these pop up appears this graphic glitch is present

like an oversized pop up with no content and transparent that covers the landscape
