IGDA Chapter Project Looking for an Engine

Post by beagle »

Hi All,
My name is Al and I'm a member of the Philadelphia chapter of the International Game Developers Association. The Philly IGDA is starting a cross-chapter game development project that will span at least 3 chapters. Each chapter will create a level in the game and add to the mechanics of the game. The game will be available for free after completion.

We are currently looking for a cross-platform 3-d engine to use for this project. We are hoping to use an open-source engine because with multiple chapters working on the project, we're bound to have several individuals wanting to modify the engine for our needs.

What I'm wondering is if there's anyone in the Irrlicht community willing to contribute some of their time to this project as an instructor (not as a coder or artist). Jumping head first into a new engine with a multi-city professional organization is going to be difficult. If there's anyone that would be able to help us out as a group to start and keep our project going with us, we would be ecstatic. In exchange we would like to promote Irrlicht along with the project and encourage our chapter members to contribute to the project.

Thank you for taking the time to read our request.

Sincerely,
--Al Vazquez

Hello, it's 10 days late, however since Christmas some how gave me the chance to not be knee deep in code.

Which IGDA chapters will be doing this? I am a member of the IGDA Boston chapter (Boston Postmortem).
