Coming Back Home (Beta 1)

I am currently doing a mini game with Irrlicht. It's called "Coming Back Home".

(name) is a cute alien who are going back to its home planet. But hey, there are lots of asteroid on his pathway! (name) has to dodge those asteroid to reach his home safely!

p/s. I haven't think of the name of the alien yet.

Name... I have no idea for now. But it must sound cute haha.

The number of asteroid will getting more and more so he can't just dodge it! When an asteroid hits the alien the ship will damage and when 100% damaged it will BOOM! :twisted:

It's a simple, clear concept, with an achievable execution. I like it.

With apologies to Michael Rennie (and Mathesar), how about "Klaatu" as a working-title name?

Hey, the screenshot looks good! I like the planet.
I develop a similar game named DarkSkies.
Do you publish your source? Would be nice to share some ideas.

Thanks for the feedbacks. The planet is just a part of skybox which I made with Photoshop.

I've used fly straight animators to make the potato-like asteroids to fly toward the alien. More to come.

- Position-based collision system works now.
- Added health point to the alien.

seems to be coming along pretty well Virion! :D *thumbs up*
nice simple concept, perfectly suited visuals and gameplay

maybe the health display sould be a bar or a dial or something graphic?
or is it just the position of it at the top of the screen like that which is putting me off?

but yeah, keep it up!
Hope to see you complete it soon (so we can try it out for ourselves ;) )

Thanks for the suggestion. I've made one:

Anyway, I've found one problem when I doing the health bar. See below:

Initially, there was a 1-pixel-width artifact appearing on screen when the health bar was rendered. But I've checked everything: I selected that part in photoshop and pressed delete buttons several times to ensure nothing was there. Then, I also checked the size of the bar image, which is 256x32, fulfilled the 2^n size requirement. I don't know if this has something to do with Irrlicht or... :roll:

Anyway I've solved the problem by adding a rect clip to hide that 1-pixel-width artifact. :wink:
