He actually announced it over/around a year ago, and at least he announced with some background in ORPG and some modules for it already created: http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... ht=#105010

Very different than your typical "I have an MMORPG idea, but nothing else, kthxbai" postee's.

Very impressive though lantis, looks as though you have come a long way in such a short amount of time, as MMORPGs go. Good luck!

I guess it is using older Irrlicht 1.3 (that has a bug with counting polygons -- counter simply was raising more and more each frame). This bug fixed long time ago ;)

P.S.: about this ancient bug -- http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=20024

Really cool game :)
I'm very happy about seeing my grass in an online RPG, I think you're the first person to bother making a custom texture :D
It would be better with a shader because it *should* fade in using vertex alpha instead of the ugly popping, the code is there but it isn't supported by the default plant material. Klasker's trees look great too :)

I recommend upgrading to the latest version of Irrlicht, the GUI is much better, you can tab between editboxes and you don't need to double click on them to select. Also the FPS counter is fixed. I recommend using the 1.4 branch in SVN as it will get bugfixes but no big changes (upgrading to 1.4 would be a pain though because of the const correctness and other API changes, but well worth it)

Bug reports-

* If water is selected, it crashes when restarting after death.
* Sometimes the GUI loses focus completely, and you have to force-exit (fixed in 1.4)
* A bug for me to fix- the windows are eating mouse-up events even when not being dragged. If you are rotating the camera and let go of the mouse over a window, it doesn't register.
* When chatting, pressing enter takes focus off the edit-box, so you need to click between every line of chat.
* Enemies can shoot through the walls!

You should email Niko about this game, I'm sure he'll blog about it and get you lots more alpha testers. Also, if you decide to use 1.4 svn then post bug reports to the bugs forum and you'll get bugfixes automatically :)

Great work, keep it up! :D

Wonderful! I look forward to giving it a try.

Please ignore the cynics. :P

It certainly is possible to write a "small massive" if you actually get on with writing it. My problem is with fantastical announcements, not announcements of fantastic fantasy games. ;)
