Does the bone count affect frames?

Post by trickey »

Hi all,

Just a general question about Irrlicht. I've heard some people say that depending on how an engine handles joints, a large bone count can cause frames to drop. Is this true with Irrlicht? I'm not planning on doing any procedural animation/reverse-kinematics, just normal bones I animated in Maya. Any knowledge on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe bonecount will have an effect on framerate,
but i have tried adding 100 animated men/women which are animated by bones and the framerate was still perfect.

So i guess you should just try creating the mesh and see how it goes.
