I said to a mate wouldn't it be funny if the Cern was actually called Black Mesa and then he showed me this picture:

I for one welcome our new Nihilanth overlords.

Say: do you think those plastic hard hats are rated to protect them from black holes? I'm sure that someone, somewhere has come up with an EU certification for that.

Some guy bet £100-£200 at Paddy Power that the world would end when they started up the LHC... clever guy eh?

Well, we may have been propelled into an alternate universe, thus ending the previous one.

Of course, since all of our history has changed, he'll have a heck of a time proving it without an smug-fugly space-bartender to argue his case.

Nah, Cern can't be Black Mesa, due to the fact that we actually know about it.

I've heard that according to Maya calendar the world would end at 2012.
I have a strong feeling they would activate this thing somewhere close to 2012...
Just my thought..

P.S
The thing with 2012 isn't there in the wiki, I've heard it on History channel.

The Mayans predicted that the world would end pretty much every single year so it's nothing to worry about

The Mayan's didn't really predict that the world will end, because it in fact will not, just the humans and possibly other animals will become extinct.

The main thought is that on that day, the moon, sun, earth, and milky way black hole will lineup in a straight line, which only happens once every ~20,000 years. And according to physicists predicitions, the earth's crust will rotate from pole to pole within 2 hours. (Because of the gravitational forces between the 4 things.) Thus creating huge tsunamis, earthquakes, etc.

At any rate, I highly doubt it will happen. But if it does, the Earth will still be here (the physicists say it has happened multiple times already), but humans won't be (possibly.)
