This is my first project, done as a demo for a friend. I have packed this as a special exe. so please report whether its running or not. Please report any problems....
Screens:
Download link:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dgfohzyh0i0
Please donot run directly from download manager....try clicking it directly.(due to that packing)
Please press 'i' in walking mode to see FPS and percent of tris rendered
**********************************************************
Here is the new demo from vrwalking...it has a bit of interiors too..
its a two storeyed villa...and the environment is simple skybox.....
here are the screenies...

NB: The mesh is not 100% perfect....there are minor probs...that are to be removed by a better workflow....
Your comments are expected...

The app and its model are under development....my aim is not high end hardwares...i am not using shaders....
It is a small commercial product to be launched in india(esp kerala state),since we have a lot of big builders in great competition and they need some innovative way to display their architectural products...
In kerala most of the pcs have only onboard graphics...so i choose the highest available techs for the lower pcs...
I am also planning a high end version...for presentations....

Please report any errors and also tell the fps...on different system...
if someone is having on board graphics, please tell the fps on such systems

I get a solid 60 FPS here, but this is a fast PC (3ghz quad core x64 with GeForce 9500GT) and vsync is enabled. I'll try on my slow laptop later.
Great textures, I love the lightmaps and the spheremap mirrors are cheap yet pretty effective.
I have one suggestion: you can pass a parameter to the FPS cam to disable vertical movement, it will stop it from jumping around when you're moving forward and looking up.
Edit: The app crashed the second time I ran it, caused Steam to open loads of windows that it wouldn't usually open. Not sure what would cause this, I've never seen an Irrlicht app show this kind of bug before.

wow! Very nice work skumar!
I'm getting 60-64 FPS with 13000-14000 tris rendered.
Intel E8400 core2duo processor 3.0 GHZ
Nvidia 8800GT 512MB
4GB DDR2 ram 800 mhz.
May I ask how you're getting the reflections? Shadres?

Alvaro

reflections are all fixed pipelinne....give just care to make good reflection texture....
floor reflection?..the floor is transparent and guess whats under it????
i will also try shader based one...sooon...i was in a little hurry

ahhh cool!

Old PS2 hardware reflection-simulation method, hey? Nice move, looks very convincing!
What do you mean by:
reflections are all fixed pipelinne....give just care to make good reflection texture....
Could you please elaborate a bit more?

Do you mean for the other elements in the apartment? The cubic mapping effect? I'd also be very interested in knowing how you got those too, if it's not too much asking
Love the GI, did you use Giles to lightmap it? Great work on both the modeling/texturing and lighting part! Quite motivating.

Alvaro

afecelis.....
the reflections of the floor are ....mesh inverted and floor made trans
the teapoy and dining table ref....EMT_TRANS_REF_2_LAYER
the mirrors in the bathroom....EMT_REF_2_LAYER(this was i talking about..if you can make good textures...it will look very good)
lightmapping//vray
static lightmappign....simple baked textures...
tv....texture animator...
fan....rotation animator.....
finished......

wow!

Thanks!
I did understand the trick of the transparent flor, hehehehe, It's how I do it and it's how it was done in PS2 before shaders became widely used on systems that supported them
but thanks a lot, that was indeed an elaborate answer, lol

Alvaro

hi Mr skumar
I astonished by ur great job. It has got everything to be realistic.
U are so great in this area, I have a question.
I want to know if the core engine is a Irrlicht game engine and if so how u imported ur models and meshes into the game engine?
U know I don't know too much about game engines, but in my last project I need to create a 3d interactive environment, It is not necessary to be very sophisticated. Do you think it is possible for me to create my environment in 3ds max and import it inside this game engine.
regards
Sadeq

Sadeq...
Yes the whole thing is developed with irrlicht and export format is b3d
The speed you need to develop is according to your skill in following areas...
1. C++ programming...for making irrlicht programs..
2. 3d design mastery(i know you have it) in the following ares:
- low poly modeling
- render baking(or lightmapping) + export as b3d(in my case)
You didnt tell about your programming experience....
Here is the things..you need....
3ds max
B3d pipeline -
http://www.onigirl.com/pipeline/index.html
lightmapping help using b3d....
http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=31041
and try to understand the examples given in with the sdk....
Its not too hard...to develop apps...but making the content for it is hard....

Hey man, this is very nice. The performance is excellent, it ran great on my mostly antiquated machine. The slowest I could get it to run is 79 FPS with about 28,000 tris. My machine is as follows:
Intel P4 2.39Ghz
768MB DDR RAM
512MB ATI Radeon X1650 AGP PRO (Running in AGP 4x Mode)
I think it's funny that I am getting better performance than some of the speed machines that are in this thread XD
